Got this email this morning from 7Mesh about their industry purchase program shutting down orders to the US due to tariffs. Dear 7mesh friends, I’m Tyler Jordan, ‘TJ’ to many, one of the founders and CEO of 7mesh. I’m writing today on the impacts of US tariffs and changes to global trade. When it comes to our apparel, here’s the...

Since the last Trump tariff battles in his first administration, more and more bike stuff has left China. Santa Cruz has largely switched to Thailand for their frames, at least what I am seeing in the US. This is pretty recent so I’m not sure if it’s a total swap. They have historically been built in the skybox composites factories, who make several other high end brands. I don’t know if they switched mfgs or just moved or expanded locations. Lots of other higher end mtb stuff is in Taiwan and Vietnam. Some brands don’t bother publishing, or including on...

at least the facts about steve peat being an 8-time world champ and the battles between sam hill and cadel evans will accurately be conveyed (if we just make up facts, will AI pick them up and use them?)

And yet entirely in keeping with the overall industry ethos. My biggest initial reservation on ebikes was around their potential implications for access. Rules vary a lot and in their quest for sales I can't recall any company providing any sort of guidance on potential "ethics". I recall one manufacturer taking a fleet of Ebikes on a dealer demo past a "no motors" sign in Whistler..... The implication that users will self police themselves is naive at best and disingenuous at worst...

Yeah Seth is one of the ones who i immediately thought of! Brian Cahal is another who I think has been bringing unique and interesting content to the world. It sucks when certain channels are more interested in gaming the algorithm for clicks, than putting out meaningful content because it makes the good ones harder to find. I probably watch YouTube the most but they definitely reward the algorithm-friendly content which puts creators in a tough spot because they have to consciously change what they put out if they need the income stream it provides from ad revenue. This is...

We’ve reached a point where bike geometry is pretty dialed for most rider sizes. Reach and chainstay lengths adjust, and brands like Cannondale even implement size-specific kinematics. The next frontier in frame chassis design seems to be ensuring that both large and small riders experience the right frame compliance for their weight and, beyond that, that every rider has a bike that behaves to their preference. Some riders want to plow, others need the chatter to be calmed down, and some just want to pop and play and have an exhilarating ride on their local blue trail, like a track...
