are these not just TRP Evo Pro brakes in black? judging by the lever and bite adjust screws... and well... the exact shape of the lever body. With all due respect to Mitch, I HIGHLY doubt he's a part of Ohlins/Brembo "test riders" when the only ones we've seen in the athlete space are Specialized Gravity.

In the german press release it says: " Das Zusammenspiel zwischen Stabilität und Reaktionsfähigkeit ist nicht immer leicht miteinander zu vereinbaren, aber diese beiden Eigenschaften sind entscheidend bei einem Downhill-Bike." I would roughly translate it to "achiving a compromise between stability and responsiveness (which is essentiell for a DH bike) is not easy and leads to trade offs of some form". And I think the last part was meant by the "non negotiable" term.

Why does it need to be somebody to add colour to the commentary? That didn't go down very well with CG. If we were looking at safer options and it was Chris Hall from Downtime, I'd be happy with that. As an analyst Chris Kilmurray would be fantastic, but he may be busy during the race weekend.

Oh goodness, here I go derailing the thread.... I run centerlines on saints on the DH bike. I find Shimano RT86s and up in the icetech lineup eventually go through enough heat-cool cycles on full DH laps that they become warped to the point they can no longer be trued ages before they wear out. You can get the icetech rotor OK in the stand again but as soon as you heat that sucker up again, it's back to warp-ville. While its likely this is a parts bin build there's nothing wrong with mixing and matching brands unless someone is...

Hi! This is my first post on this thread, but I have been reading for 2 years now. I talked with Sam pilgrim and a few other canyon guys at Tennessee Nationals, and also got to swing a leg over the Production New canyon sender. Supposedly the bike was supposed to release April 12 (that’s what Sam said, he also verified that it was the production version he was riding) so there’s a chance maybe it is releasing this month still? In theory, if your pinch bolts don't ever slip then the torsional rigidity added by the axle would be a function of OD and ID. All the hex buys you is the assurance that it can never slip.

We are sure that the glued bonds are enough to keep up with high loads and fatigue stress. We are helped by people working in the field. With regards to the mechanical failsafe – it’s simple, low-cost, and adds peace of mind when you’re dropping into gnarly features. Hopefully, we’ll never need it… but it’s there, just in case. Some technical details will follow later.

For wall thicknesses- try to get your hands on an older enduro frame- cut it up, measure tube thickness/shape/size, then back out the tensile strengths- ie if the frame is 6061 and you're using 7075- and you have a ballpark figure. Can easily measure steerer tubes as well. FEA is hard and an incorrect assumption at the beginning can mean the results are trash... Good to verify your FEA loads/assumptions on an existing product. Cool project- love to see it!

You can get a student version of Ansys Workbench for free with a University email. Definite learning curve with the software, but it’s probably the best FEA program out.
