Also this, which was apparently Sinyard's decision: https://www.northbaybusinessjournal.com/article/industrynews/dutch-comp… tl;dr Spesh and Pon both wanted to buy Mike's, Mike's decided to sell to Pon and Sinyard had a hissy and cancelled a ton of bike orders that had been on the books for up to a year (this was during the Covid bike bom).

Sinyard did actually publicly apologise for those trademark/copyright sagas. Iirc they did resolve those cases too. How much knowledge he had of, and during them is a debatably hazy subject though. I really disliked them for buying Horst link and calling it FSR. Very shrewd business but shitty practice. I avoided them like the plague during that period, but thankfully live in the UK where it wasn’t too much ofban issue. That said I doubt the split pivot and vpp/maestro/dw-link variants would’ve been so prolific if Horst was public.

I definitely dislike them on principal. Their legal team is deplorable. They once threatened to sue a bike shop called “ Café Roubaix” because reasons…

You’re getting downvoted but as an owner of the exact Patrol you describe I wholeheartedly agree. I use my dropper pedaling back to the truck and take a sip of water every other lap. The paint on that Marin is stellar though and the price is even more stellar! I’d own it if I was a casual who isn’t comfortable tinkering with over shocking/forking, Cascade Links, and anglesets. (needed on Patrol/Spire with dual crown imo)

The marin DH bike looks like everything l want in a DH bike but I am a little bummed with the price. Maybe I'm just being a negative cunt, but I feel like an aluminum 4 bar DH bike from a budget company should cost less than 5k.

Looks eerily similar to the Hopey's I used to run BITD on my Turners. Tim Hopey told me they were based on satellite rotational dampers and adapted to MTB's.

I got a weird nostalgia boner for brands that were the shit when I was a kid, so Hadley hubs, White industries, Mavic etc. Their modern stuff doesn't have the same glow unfortunately. I almost religiously run shimano drivetrains & brakes

I try to avoid hype and buy products on their merits. Brands are corporations, not your friend. Although I do need to branch out on tyres... Edit: I articulated my thoughts poorly but I think in general, reciprocity is largely dead these days. And I don't buy enough of anything to be important enough for a brand to be "loyal" to me in return.

They’ve probably just come to the end of the useable life of their molds (i guess they bought/made cheaper low volume ones) and now need to get new ones… maybe also taking the opportunity to do some updates

Giant released the inhouse created Crest fork a few years ago (using 34mm stanchions, 130mm travel) - for example, Fathom trail hardtails and Trances were equipped with it. It seems they created a big brother as well with an apparently longer travel, maybe stachions are 35 or 36mm (I'm only guessing) with a more robust design for the lowers: For reference/comparison, this is the old trail fork design: Source: from Pinkbike's gallery to article ' Spotted: A Wireless Fox Electronic Dropper Post' ( https://www.pinkbike.com/news/spotted-a-wireless-fox-electronic-dropper… ). Edit: OMG, kind of false positive, the 1st photo was taken from a 24" bike...

The intense dh wasnt the best race tire. It weighed a ton and had super burley casings. It was amazing for super steep and/or loose dirt. You could run them with sub 20psi and still push in corners and the slow rebound rubber worked really well on rock slabs. Nothing like them. Game changer for that type of riding. Until they changed tire manufacturer and all the side knobs started ripping off. They were done shortly after that

New manufacturer entering the brake market from the south west UK - Hel. Think they usually specialise in racing brakes/brake parts for cars and motorbikes.
