11/28/2024 7:40am Some our local rippers / engineers came up with a very unique "axle-less" pedal. Machined here in Calgary, Alberta and testing in the rocky mountains. They use a big ol 6902 bearing for spinny duties. The pendulum (drop pedal) is super interesting. Void pedals (traditional flat) Pendulum pedals (12mm drop) "Our platform sits 12mm below the center of the axle. Most pedals place the platform 5mm or more above the center of the axle. This effectively lowers the rider's center of mass 17mm or more offering a significant stability, and control. During sudden decelerations, the pedal acts as a pendulum...

10/25/2024 9:14am Pretty cool concept. I remember first noticing this on Vali Höll's YT. She rode without the pulleys during practice and then they were added for the final. Rulezman also makes them for his Banshee bikes. He claims it completely removes pedal kickback.

10/24/2024 8:13am that's a bit hard to watch, when you start adding up the injuries he's had. he makes this hospital trip seem like a normal course of business. must stress the hell out of his wife and kids. separately, how do US athletes get their health insurance?

10/14/2024 8:42am Call me an old codger. But the risks involved in this event are not worth it, IMO.I don't watch anymore as I know what is coming. I don't want to see it when it does. Knowing the media that promotes this, my guess is they would hide it anyway to keep the money flowing.

10/11/2024 8:08am "That’s why a 38mm single crown works like crap compared to a 35mm dual crown fork." 35mm dual crown fork 🤮 I always casually browse the used bike listings for DH bikes I don't really need.. After seeing this pic in the G Out Project, anything with an oldschool boxxer is immediatley ruled out unless the bike is a screaming deal.

10/4/2024 9:00am Rulezman has crowns for Manitous with lots of drop, and as I recall a 47mm offset. Hit him up.

Best upgrade for my bike. Amazing ammount of grip, so much better than rock shox super deluxe ultimate coil. NOTE: If it feels very slow on fastest rebound, change bottom out control for higher oil flow. Highly recommended.

8/13/2024 5:33am If two bikes are compared and one is twice as progressive as the other, there are only two ways the more progressive bike uses more travel: a softer spring (it should run a stiffer spring to maintain sag) or a comparatively soft shock tune. The damping is the most often overlooked. It’s not uncommon to need a 20-30% stiffer tune if you make a 10% jump in progression and want damping to feel similar. This is just conservation of energy plain and simple. The issue WC riders have once progression gets past the mid 30s is their damping tune and...

8/6/2024 4:51pm Pretty sure when I bought mine back in 2005? They were close to $200-300 each. Lot of carefully finished machining and anodizing. In case nobody has noticed everything has skyrocketed in price since Brandon snuck in and started printing fiat currency. MTB’s are heading to snowski level where only rich people do it.

8/1/2024 4:39pm Looks eerily similar to the Hopey's I used to run BITD on my Turners. Tim Hopey told me they were based on satellite rotational dampers and adapted to MTB's.

7/17/2024 6:15am While that is true, if the front center grows without the rear center also growing, the weight distribution shifts more and more towards the rear. This results in being forced to ride with more weight on your hands which is generally undesirable. IMO, your hands should mostly be used for controlling the bike and fore-aft stability, not for supporting your weight. I’m 6’3” and find that many bikes with short CS and long reach force me into a riding position that I don’t like in order to place enough weight on the front wheel.

7/3/2024 7:58am RE: New Stumpy... My big takeaway is when the company who arguably has the largest capex budgets in the industry keeps outputting new models that are small evolutions (Epic EVO, new Stumpy, don't forget Jordan beat Finn/Loic on the "old" demo last season), not revolutions, that tells me we've really hit a plateau of technological progression. This isn't a bad thing, per se, unless you are in the business of selling bikes to bike nerds who used to think they needed the latest/greatest every year. FWIW, this has also happened in the moto, snowmobile, ski, road bike etc world, too...
