While that is true, if the front center grows without the rear center also growing, the weight distribution shifts more and more towards the rear. This results in being forced to ride with more weight on your hands which is generally undesirable. IMO, your hands should mostly be used for controlling the bike and fore-aft stability, not for supporting your weight. I’m 6’3” and find that many bikes with short CS and long reach force me into a riding position that I don’t like in order to place enough weight on the front wheel.

could have just called it S M L XL XXL instead of S M XM L XL tbh, sizing seems in line also these are a lot more pleasant to look at than the eye cancer inducing last generation

Got to see the new Schwalbe Assegai/Kryptotal type tyre at Eurobike today on a random bike that it probably should not have been on. Knobs look bigger generally to me, though I could not check side by side with the Maxxis/Conti equivalent. Looks like it should be a good addition to the Schwalbe range.

Not mechanical, not aftermarket, not interested.

This reads as an attempt to FORCE manufacturers to spec something they have no interest in trying to upsell to the consumer. SRAM minion - "OEM isn't wanting to spec this at the price point we're offering sir." SRAM corporate overlord (former at Coca Cola) - "Buy ad space on all the websites. Consumers will scream for it & they' have no choice but to accept our margins." followed by a Mr. Burns level chortle.

Visually speaking, not one of those components looks like it’s under 900 grams alone.

This feels like the product no one was asking for. Maybe SRAM knows something about the MTB market that I don't, but doesn't it seem like a mechanical Transmission has 1000% more market interest than an SX-level battery-operated system?

RE: New Stumpy... My big takeaway is when the company who arguably has the largest capex budgets in the industry keeps outputting new models that are small evolutions (Epic EVO, new Stumpy, don't forget Jordan beat Finn/Loic on the "old" demo last season), not revolutions, that tells me we've really hit a plateau of technological progression. This isn't a bad thing, per se, unless you are in the business of selling bikes to bike nerds who used to think they needed the latest/greatest every year. FWIW, this has also happened in the moto, snowmobile, ski, road bike etc world, too...

Deore four piston brakes are better thsn codes. Saints are way better. Ive had my saints thru 5 boikes in 10yrs. They still work amazing w cheap nukeproof metallic pads. The code r's that came on my latest bike(yt decoy) develooed lever slop, friction and subsequent power loss in acouple months and tgey werent as powerful even when they were new. Code rsc with the bearing pivots are much better than code r. Id still take my saints over code rsc. Not many, if any bike part , is still relevant after 10 yrs. I havent tried trp's , hayes...

that's because codes are indeed garbage, they were before and they will be in the future, little power and lot of strength required to obtain it, the exact opposite of what a "downhill" brake should be

I’m wondering how crap it will be, GX t-type are shitting themselves and stop working randomly, XO has no clutch tension whatsoever after a couple rides, XX seems to be good, no idea about the XXSL. meh

Good, the sooner tear offs are banned all round the better. And when a company gets round to making a remote roll off system loic can have an extra button on his bar

did they put the shock in the frame? Layout looks a bit like the ransom Whatever the engineers at Scott are smoking I don’t want none of it also, going to be interesting to see if the specialized team is going to be running the Gustav or if they stick with the MT7. Doesn’t seem like the Gustav has any advantages in a race setting over a properly set up MT7 and is more focused on e-bikes with that whole ABS crap.

Looks like Eurosport users have been had by the big dogs. I received an email saying that Eurosport Premium will be discontinued on 22 July. "The good news is that Max is the new streaming platform for Eurosport". However the sport package is extra on top of the base. I have no use for the base subscription, I want mountain biking. The TV product is crap and only slowly improving anyway. I hate paying for a shit product. I don't mind supporting our sport and paying, but it is terrible to pay for a crap product. Especially when all these...

i dont buy the aero thing i thought that was a joke to obfuscate answering kinda like the music controls answer to the buttons. i think the obvious answers are keeping the rotor clean but another convincing one I heard is indeed consistency in basically 'power'. if your lines and speed depend on absolutely nailing your braking points and not braking more than you need. having brakes that work the same time every pull helps. and whereas we usually think of brakes getting too hot and fading... i think for them on a single 'short' run there is this idea...
