4/20/2024 6:58pm I ran these before moving to Intends. I've also tried a bunch of other brakes. Most of the mtbr discussion is people dogpiling SRAM due to that youtube review by Dale Stone. I tried to offer some useful commentary there but eventually got tired of arguing with people who would never try them and just wanted to shit on SRAM (which I can relate to given my CS experiences with them). I'm not really sure where Enduro MTB got the power numbers from, I can say in terms of feel at least, the Mavens seem to have more power earlier...

1/25/2024 1:49pm It will be very interesting to see what happens to SC with all these changes. I believe JG was a big force behind keeping SC in SC, CA. Running a business in CA is tough. Cost of living is brutal. Taxes are brutal. From a pure bean counter perspective it probably makes more sense to move the company out of Santa Cruz, at which point, is it still Santa Cruz? So many great, iconic bikes over the years... can they keep it going? I hope so, cuz I like the brand.

12/5/2023 11:40am Just started listening to Santa Cruz’s own podcast with Greg Minaar. Sounds like they actually axed him. Just wow

9/30/2023 6:04pm Brendan F. was on some podcast recently explaining how he was one of the better paid racers specifically because he used the freerider sponsorship model. Rather than getting a single pay cheque from a team (+maybe a helmet/apparel cheque), he worked with loads of brands to get a small cheque from each component and reckons he was way better off. Beyond the numbers on his youtube channel, Remy is particularly good at mentioning his sponsors etc, so not too surprised he would be one of the better paid influencers. Might be subjective, but the fact that Remy is literally hitting...

9/30/2023 6:04pm The fact that he is getting paid that much to ride a brand of helmets that has bikes, but is NOT riding their bikes, rather riding competitors bikes, is the interesting part. Not if he's getting paid or not.

9/30/2023 6:04pm Nope. Just providing a possible insight into how much companies value YouTube/Social media riders in today’s landscape. I’m all for riders making money in any way possible.

9/30/2023 6:04pm I'm confused, maybe I'm misreading this, but are you complaining that a mountain biker is getting paid? Remy makes great content, his videos are meticulous, and clearly he works hard at it. I feel like this is a place where we support riders.

6/2/2023 4:22pm Hayes are probably just paying more and are a great brake too. They seem to be appearing on a lot more pro’s bikes recently (Fairclough for one)

5/15/2023 7:52am Interesting idea to try out lots of crank lengths. Crank strike potential only a bit worse than normal 175 arms. Idea is to rent them to figure out what you like. https://www.applemanbicycles.com/shop/2xr-fit-crankset-rental/

5/15/2023 7:52am Xo transmission derailleur had a clutch that actually works. Hopefully sram transfers that to the gx transmission unlike the non existent clutch on the gx axs

5/15/2023 7:52am I don't see Transmission going below a GX level, I guess that goes without saying given that NX has been neglected for 5 odd years now? If SRAM can deliver current GX quality at an NX/SX price point they pose a serious threat to Shimano's Deore dominance at the lower end.

5/15/2023 7:51am Maybe not the top end, but SX/NX Eagle really aren't remotely competitive with even Deore, much less SLX. As far as I know people generally only go for those if they don't have a HG+ hub body or if they prefer the Sram 'feel'. GX could at least use a refresh; I haven't heard of anything particularly 'wrong' with it but it's also been essentially the same for over five years.

5/15/2023 7:51am Personally don’t think SRAM’s current cable actuated group sets really need an update. Would much rather have them invest in reducing prices for it than a 1 percent increase in shift quality.

5/15/2023 7:50am I wish it would, but it looks unlikely. The frame is a normal bike without an engine, but there is a big sticker, that says UN3481, with is a shipping regulation for dangerous goods. So this build will end up with at least one Li-Ion Battery on it. Maybe it's just a reverb axs dropper post, but my guess is GX Transmission AXS. The whole direct mount standard, without limit screws etc. is build around the wireless derailleur. Therefore I don't see a cable accurated version coming any time soon.

5/15/2023 7:50am So XO's without the holes and a matte silver color, probably 600 - 650g's with ring. Main issue with GX is the length coming in at 170 or 175. Wonder if they were smart enough to offer shorter sizes? Probably not anything shorter than 165.
