11/16/2024 5:09am At the shop I work at we say "buy nice or buy twice". It's really not an elitist thing (none of us would be considered rich), just an acknowledgement that in many cases buying the well made, more expensive product is cheaper in the long run.

11/15/2024 3:06am I have to deal with USA tariff often (finished metal). You "Yanks" don't bother to read your own media. To busy making snide comments at each other. "The Trump administration imposed nearly $80 billion worth of new taxes on Americans by levying tariffs on thousands of products valued at approximately $380 billion in 2018 and 2019, amounting to one of the largest tax increases in decades. The Biden administration has kept most of the Trump administration tariffs in place, and in May 2024, announced tariff hikes on an additional $18 billion of Chinese goods, including semiconductors and electric vehicles, for...

11/14/2024 8:02am We're talking Stumpy 15's full Ohlins for 35% off. Brand new stuff that they just need to move asap. It was kind of bizarre to see.

11/12/2024 10:15am Hey, I’m Ryan Burney. I’ve spent eight years as an engineer for full-suspension bikes, working on some fun projects, like developing the flex Horst link for the Cannondale Scalpel and being lead engineer for the latest GT Fury downhill bike. With over a decade of downhill racing under my belt (even made it to one World Cup—though I didn’t qualify so I stuck to engineering), I've had the pleasure of racing alongside the Vital crew, like Jason, Tanner, and Dak. Below is a photo of me, being slower than Dak. These days, I’m focused on my own projects, but I...

11/12/2024 10:14am Tariff Follow Up History: Trump did implement tariffs aimed at specific industries and countries during his last administration. In fact, they specifically targeted bicycle and bicycle accessories from China, in addition to steel, aluminum and other Chinese based goods. I can't find an exact amount (I didn't try that hard) but it appears to have impacted our industry 10-25%. I honestly don't remember any part of my bicycle going up in price. More on this in a second. New Plan: One of the biggest challenges to Trump as a president is distilling what he says from what he does. From...

11/12/2024 9:24am Hey Ryan, appreciate this Post! I had a chance to ride the new fury for a few days and I think you and Luis did a great job on the new version compared to the 2023 model. It’s interesting to hear your philosophy on stiffness and Compliance because I felt exactly what you mentioned above on the fury. In my opinion, I think the front end was a little too rigid for me, at my speed and riding level. The rear end to me was much more to my liking of how I like a bike to ride and feel...

11/11/2024 4:30am Generally speaking, imposing blanket tarrifs on imported goods without first investing significantly in domestic manufacturing is a really good way to make everything get really expensive really fast. Nothing wrong with wanting a strong self sufficient and independent economy and strong domestic manufacturing, honestly it's better that way, but a tarrif like that is putting the wagon before the horse.

11/10/2024 2:35am Zink Bikes is dropping a new 27.5” model, I have no clue on geo and specs but this is what I’ve gleamed from ocbikeworks on Insta so far. “150 travel and it’s possible to run 26” in the back, but all the material shared with us suggests it’s meant for 27.5 without any mods. $1650 retail for the frame.” And like all shops they hook up the discount on parts to build it up. Has me intrigued for sure.

11/7/2024 2:05pm Not to be overtly political, but the US’s once and future president has indicated he intends to impose significant tariffs on foreign manufactured goods. Let’s assume for discussion that this actually happens -- anyone care to conjecture what effect such a policy would have on this industry?
