At the shop I work at we say "buy nice or buy twice". It's really not an elitist thing (none of us would be considered rich), just an acknowledgement that in many cases buying the well made, more expensive product is cheaper in the long run.

Tariff Follow Up History: Trump did implement tariffs aimed at specific industries and countries during his last administration. In fact, they specifically targeted bicycle and bicycle accessories from China, in addition to steel, aluminum and other Chinese based goods. I can't find an exact amount (I didn't try that hard) but it appears to have impacted our industry 10-25%. I honestly don't remember any part of my bicycle going up in price. Generally speaking, imposing blanket tarrifs on imported goods without first investing significantly in domestic manufacturing is a really good way to make everything get really expensive really fast. Nothing wrong with wanting a strong self sufficient and independent economy and strong domestic manufacturing, honestly it's better that way, but a tarrif like that is putting the wagon before the horse.

Zink Bikes is dropping a new 27.5” model, I have no clue on geo and specs but this is what I’ve gleamed from ocbikeworks on Insta so far. “150 travel and it’s possible to run 26” in the back, but all the material shared with us suggests it’s meant for 27.5 without any mods. $1650 retail for the frame.” And like all shops they hook up the discount on parts to build it up. Has me intrigued for sure.

Not to be overtly political, but the US’s once and future president has indicated he intends to impose significant tariffs on foreign manufactured goods. Let’s assume for discussion that this actually happens -- anyone care to conjecture what effect such a policy would have on this industry?

The Vaia features floating bushings. That should make the biggest differnce other then ridefeel. Would be interesting for sure!
