12/8/2024 2:02am " In all fairness I think speed+style became a bit stale" I don't think I personally ever really got it. I love racing, I'm glued to the DH and XC. I'll even watch the weird niche things like urban eliminator. And I'll watch the slope/freeride competitions in a state of confused awe at how intricate the tricks are. But speed and style tried to combine elements of both to end up with something not as good as either. It did tend to have good filming and production value, hope those guys and cameras (and budget) can be relocated to the...

12/8/2024 1:34am Maybe it's good for Enduro to fall from where it's at and fall back to what made it cool in the first place. Ditch the big teams with big tents, let's go back to riders just going out on big days on big stages finding out who can win the war of attrition. I have talked to a few top 20 riders who have said the atmosphere amongst the riders during the races is awesome and everyone is having a great time. they are also fully aware that it's not translating to viewership or bringing out crowds however they still...

12/6/2024 7:13am Based on the styling it makes me want to buy the current one, unless there's some functionality/price/reliability benefit?

12/5/2024 2:40am surely i cant be the only one who hates the fox neo dropper design, ie the system being at the mid cap assembly, it looks so out of place and odd. We buy all these nice clean looking bikes then a huge bulge 3/4 up a seat tube lol. I've been wanting a wireless dropper but not when they look like that lmao

12/4/2024 2:34am Doing some micro-shootouts comparing a few tires (or products in other categories) is high on our to-do list next year. Everything is so good these days, that zooming in and comparing some really similar products would be rad. Especially with tires when visually so many look similar. I also really want to ride the Shredda. Thing looks mean. It's also very on-brand for me....

12/2/2024 1:00am Scale, simply scale Trek doing a limited run of steel bikes, that they prototype, test, R&D, blah blah blah is going to be the same money as a boutique builder, its not likely to be a mass market, asia produced bike, so theres no scaling available to eat the associated costs. Id be willing to bet, its one of the most expensive mountain bikes they make, if they put it out.

12/2/2024 12:56am For similar money you could go to any number of boutique steel bike mfg's and get a custom sized steel bike, that would be infinitely cooler than any Trek would ever be. Support those little guys out there making rad stuff

12/2/2024 12:56am If Trek hadn’t put all their eggs in the Armstrong-worship basket 20 years ago, they’d probably still have functioning steel and aluminum production lines in house, like they did before they fully embraced the concept of 4 different levels of imported carbon for everyone…

12/2/2024 12:55am Didn’t the Shimano guy on the pinkbike podcast say that one of their goals is to always have a well working mechanical XT drivetrain? All this wireless only and 13 speed does not really sound typical for them

12/2/2024 12:54am I went back to 11 speed on all of my bikes about 4 years ago. I find it far less finicky than 12 speed to set up and spending less on wear items suits me fine.

11/28/2024 8:51am So in the past we're talked more about smaller to mid sized companies shutting down, the biggest being Kona and the CRC brands and rumors of a few others, but a lot of the small and midsize companies that had lower inventory and were quicker to move on getting that Inventory out, while maybe not all out of the water yet, seem to have stablized stock wise from what I've seen and are being careful moving forward. But now will we see the bigger guys, who had capital and sat on stuff longer thinking it would move, but have now...

11/26/2024 12:33pm Shout out to Jonny. I learned a lot about a bike I'd probably visually pass over but he's made so many good points about the bike, and likely sold it more than Scott ever could. Love the external routing 'hack'. Love the little axle seated multi tool. (Don't love the pressfit BB but hey whatever.) He even mentions how to tame pressfit BBs too. Jonny is a legend for this one.
