it's not $500 per team... the 25 UCI series teams don't pay this. and they all have media teams at each round, some with as many as 5 photo, video, social media people. it's not 20 teams sharing the same 5 people, or a small group with access controlling all the content as you're claiming there's no charge for any team, rider, etc to shoot photos. and outside the series teams there's a fee for video because of TV and broadcast rights. anyone saying they lost their team job over that fee likely wasnt getting paid in the first place...

I think Adidas being a title sponsor of the Norco team is pretty big news. They are a huge and well recognised brand, so it's a great thing for mountain biking.

Gwin is a full part of the team. They approached shared sponsors and combined all budgets to make the finances work. Sounds like Gwin gets paid what he is used to, and Frameworks probably makes out with more budget and even more attention from sponsors and fans now that Gwinner is with them.

Apparently in the paddock, the on camera charm doesn't translate among his peers on circuit. I have the opposite effect.

All this talk about smaller batteries to reduce unsprung mass on the rear end of a DH bike is interesting, but I kind of chuckle when I remember within the last year there were World Cup racers were janking together auto water dripping setup thingys to their bikes to cool their brakes.

Even heavy wheels really don't make that much of a difference. It's just due to the relative strength of the forces. Put your bike in a stand and try cycle the rear to sage point. It's a LOT for force than what people assume. 200g of a derailleur is just nothing in comparison. People think 500g/1kg would make a huge difference, but it's almost all handling related and not suspension movement.
