Regarding 30-60-90 day credit terms on components, the bike brands that we know often don't buy directly from component suppliers, instead the assembly factory purchases parts using their creditworthyness with the component manufacturers. An assembly factory may then extend credit to the brand. Less frequently (though not infrequently) bike brands import frames and assemble locally (you mentioned YT did this), this can save them from holding a depreciating inventory of components by acquiring them just in time, and it can allow them to offer multiple build levels or model years based on whatever frames they have available. There have been...

just wanted to reply to @casey79 from a day or two ago regarding media outlets avoiding the topic b/c of future ad dollars. hopefully the podcast we posted addresses your thoughts about that and vital. some things take time to sort out properly. on the flipside though, that's why i love our community here...everyone is reporting things in near real-time and there is a huge talent pool of expertise to offer insights/info/opinion for any viewer to see. fwiw (not that it really matters), our ad agreement was with YT USA only apparently (just learned that yesterday).

Small housekeeping note: we recorded a pod yesterday on the whole YT kerfuffle, and I’m hopeful it drops soon. We cover pretty much everything y'all are talking about right now (except the part where I say “umm” and “you know” way too much… I’ll work on that 😬). One thing nobody touched, though, was this "ominchannel" sales disclosure. My two cents: I’d be shocked if Markus actually pulls this off. He’s already boxed in on margin and price point. I’ve written about this elsewhere, but if he raises prices, the bikes lose their appeal. At the same time, the company...

Yeah. He has great content and personality. It really is a shame that no one has figured-out how to cover enduro in an interesting way. Most gravity bikes sold are enduro bikes, and, I'd guess that on a local level, enduro racing is still popular. But translating World Cup Enduro to a television audience has just never been done well. I think my initial comment about "looking for a sport" may have sounded unkind. It wasn't meant to be--really just a sad reaction to what seems like the slow death of what really is a great sport. I got to...

To celebrate making it to 1000 pages in the Tech Rumors thread, here's some news about the one "innovation" no one asked for: The UCI just communicated that they will allow 32" wheels for use in XC mountainbike competition for the 2026 season. Though they very specifically stated only the 2026 season, so here's to hoping they will come to their senses for 2027 and beyond. For the 2026 season this will probably mean lots of frankenstein'd 32" prototypes at the races.

In honor of the 1000th page, we should vote on the best meme of 2025: 👍🏻 for “Crab” 👎🏻 for “6-7” edit: Carcinization is the antithesis of innovation. Maybe we should keep crab talk on the crab talk forum and keep this thread focused on MTB tech rumors and/or innovation.

Jimmy: " Why was a new entity created on July 11, when the insolvency didn’t happen till after? Why wasn’t it done in your name? Asking on behalf of honest hard working people." There have been a few almost losses the last two years who at least tried or were open about what was happening, and come back swinging like Rocky, Kona, Nukeproof. They have all come back in someway and people celebrated them coming back because of the way they handled it. Revel as well, although they were a bit tougher with customer support. Then there are YT and Pole. If two brands stayed dead because of the way they handled their customers and riders very publicly, I don't think a lot of people who cry about it.

So Markus (CEO of new company) was busy getting the new YT set up in July while Markus (CEO of old company) was busy running a 50% off online flash sale just prior to declaring old YT insolvent in mid-July. Busy man that Markus. The press release containing two pictures of the guy, one of which is in front of a "WE ARE YT" sign is priceless. Are both pictures of new company CEO Markus? Or maybe one is old company CEO Markus? It's really hard to tell.

Oh boy. It will be interesting to see how this goes. I did some digging and I obviously don't speak German nor am I well versed in German bankruptcy proceedings but what appears to have happened is the old YT Industries (HRB 8353) is in an insolvency proceedings with debts parked there and the new YT (12277) is controlled by Flossman and is taking over the brand and operations. This most certainly means the creditors take a (big) haircut, equity (of prior company) is completely wiped (private equity marks the company to 0) and the "new" company is buying assets...

Not surprising for them to pick up some easy riders who don't require much structure other than a small pay checks and some frames or bikes. You could have 20 riders out there posting about your stuff to a huge audience for a quarter the cost of what it takes to run the mob. If the Mob does come back, it'll likely be small with up and coming riders who need something as I'm sure top riders will be wary unless they're getting paid a 3 year contract upfront going forward.

So... some math isn't mathing for me. Thanks to Spotify's podcast transcription feature, Troydon said, referring to Aaron Gwin, "He's got a small ownership in the company(Crestline) and we've set almost like some targets and over the next X number of years, as long as we hit those targets, Aaron will get like, you know, issued more equity in the brand." AG gets applauded for his business acumen a lot here, yet people seem to think he'd ride for a different/rival bike brand while holding an incentivized stake in Crestline. Unless he's suddenly not a part of Crestline anymore, it...
