10/31/2025 8:23am As I get older, I’ve come to really appreciate “culture” as a larger driving force than we tend to acknowledge. You can grab attention fast with a stunt, but lasting viewership takes time, many decades, for the underlying culture to mature. It has little to do with broadcast length, equipment, or announcers. Those things help add iterative improvement to what exists, but for mountain biking to become truly mainstream, the only real solution is time. Remember, people spend countless hours watching golf, baseball, the Tour de France, and plenty of other sports that can seem “boring” at first glance. The...

10/30/2025 5:41pm The assertion that e-bikes decrease fitness is widespread. On the surface, the reasoning appears sound: riders often feel like they have expended more energy after a normal ride compared to an e-bike ride. Therefore, normal bikes must provide superior fitness benefits, right? Not quite. This surface-level analysis misses several crucial insights about how fitness actually works. Let's start with a simple fact: work done is work done, regardless of the bicycle beneath you. If you maintain the same effort level on an e-bike as you would on a traditional bike, you'll simply travel farther in the same time. In this...

10/24/2025 4:16pm It's a refreshing change when they let the person on the marketing team who actually understands mountain biking handle the mountain bike aspect of a "lifestyle" vehicle ad. And likely in this case they don't just understand it; they're deep in the weeds. Who outside of the sport has heard of Frameworks? Edit: because the presentation of the photo on Instagram offended me so much:

10/23/2025 3:13pm I thought it was very brave of Ebruner to be vulnerable and share how many bikes he and his wife have. It can be tough to come clean. We’re all active or recovering bikes addicts here, and this is supposed to be a supportive community for recovery. Or enabling rationalizations and fostering codependency, if that’s what you’re looking for. Both, really. JUDGEMENT FREE SPACE

10/23/2025 3:07pm Facts from the Rumor forum: Nukeproof wants to stay true to its UK roots. Doesn't want to spend the money on a big team with flashy truck. New rider has luscious locks. There are two small (no truck or blue US school bus) UK based teams with Rider/Owners, but only one has long hair. Could we see a Nukeproof camper van pit set up?

10/22/2025 4:41pm I have fought off having superboost rear wheels in my fleet for many years. My wife fell in love with a pivot recently and got herself one. It has ruined the zen status of all wheels/hubs fitting all bikes in my garage. It is as bad, if not worse then the dystopian axle future I imagined that had me avoiding pivot bikes for nearly a decade now. superboost sucks... after having a superboost bike forced on me, I can safely say, I will never own a superboost bike.

10/22/2025 4:39pm Looks like a Ryde Edge series rim. Weird they put a photo with a mangled nipple front n center: I realize that's a bit obsessive, but as a wheel builder this matters.

10/21/2025 3:29pm Ah sorry, I was getting carried away talking about product instead of teams...however none of you are guessing the pro riders foot in my picture? Man I thought that was what team rumours was all about! I thought someone would have blown it up and analysed the lacing pattern to identify who is going to be spearheading the Nukeproof team in 2026!

10/21/2025 3:27pm I disagree. Rampage has been around longer than social media. These guys have been throwing themselves cliffs before social media was a thing, and still be throwing themselves off cliffs even if it hadn't become a thing. Injuries have always been a thing, whether they are small, significant or life altering, but the fact of the matter is there HAVEN'T been any deaths. How many other extreme (or less extreme) competitions can claim a zero fatality rate in 24 years of existence? I'm not saying things can't be made safer, but I'm also not sure what the answer is. If...

10/21/2025 3:25pm As one who had a 'career' in freeride and spent that career working to get into Rampage, I have a lot to say about Rampage, its evolution, and its current state. I will try to keep it short. The professionalization of Rampage over the last 25 years has made for a better event. Riders and builders are better paid. It has resulted in more coverage, more reward, and the ability to build a professional career around the event. Is it perfect? No. But it is pretty darn good. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Has it gotten safer for athletes...

10/21/2025 3:23pm i just wanted to say how much i appreciate the discussion you're all having about this, keeping it thoughtful and caring. whether you're for or against the level of risk, i think it's clear that everyone here cares about the riders first and foremost, and that makes me proud of this community. some care that the riders have the freedom to make their own choices, some care about protecting them from exploitation or going too far. regardless of outlooks, thank you for all the input and experiences and sharing. no matter what, i hope that all the injured riders make...

10/21/2025 12:02pm I've discussed it with Pagey but it's hard to go racing without sponsorship support and the appetite to go Enduro racing from brands is at an all time low. We can't do everything, DH gives you great coverage across not only World Cups but Hardline, Cerro Abajo etc etc but if we do do an Enduro team, Pagey would be an obvious choice but he's also got a new shop to get up and running so lets see...

10/21/2025 12:02pm Great to hear! The new back end is actually being tested this week by new team riders in a secret location...This picture was taken last week at the Belgian Cycling Factory, this is Dale McMullen (Nukeproof Lead Engineer) and Steve Jamison (Nukeproof Product Manager) discussing the new back end with a new rider (you can just see his foot)!

10/21/2025 12:01pm The parts and accessories are getting an overhaul, we'll have some new stuff to show next year, probably less options than before as it was a pretty big range. What do you guys want to see Nukeproof make? Pedals, bars etc are a no brainer and the wheels are well regarded but we're open to suggestion...VitalMTB poll incoming...
