I think like most things this very much depends on where and what you ride. Here in Vancouver almost everyone I know is on a 160-180mm enduro bike. Our trails have a lot of big roots and big compressions so we’re using every bit of travel we can get. Even if you primarily shuttle to the top you’ll likely be pedalling at some point so you rarely see downhill bikes at Seymour.

I kinda feel like elites is a clean slate for the juniors, they'll be whatever banana they are based off of their results after the first few races. Max or Till would be the talk of the town if they were instantly beating their older team mates to podium spots. I'm thinking now though that it's actually someone like Nathan Pontvianne that is going to Norco, young, fast and french. I can't see commencal in general never mind the team letting either Alran go just yet.

I haven't gotten my fitness up for racing any of the Eastern State Cup enduro races, but I would love to try one. It is the uphills that kill me.I would probably have to train in order to even try one of them. We are pretty lucky that we live in New England and we have access to this organization that runs Downhill and Enduro races. One day I will make it happen.

@sspomer I totally get your decision from a web resourcing point of view. Things get really expensive really quick when you need to tack on more power. The EWS100 and EWS80 were replaced a few years ago (I think when the UCI took over) by the EDR Open, which is basically the same thing. This year, we raced one day out of two when the Pros had a two-day race, or we had one fewer stage than the Pros when it was a single-day event.
