Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,

Yeah... pretty sure I've got a tab open all day at work. Ha ha
The hell is Category 4?

Finally something to yap about
Cat 4 is we call this a gravity mtb but we will deny your warranty for riding it.
On Brand for longer and slacker. jank components came out with an Ibis link to lengthen the chain stay and slacken the head tube.

lol strong submission to the new thread. Hope we continue to see a tide shift in brands focusing more on front to rear ratio.
Omg, you can see my brake hoses, how embarrassing....
I'm guessing this is more for the road side of things, but imagine going through a super tech steep or flying down a hill towards an intersection and both your brakes unpair, then this progressive brake systems that you cannot control kicks in at the wrong time. Now not only can you not slow down under your own volition, but now you can't necessarily roll it out either. You are now unintentionally stopping and have no control over the speed you're slowing down even. Given how often I deal with Axs pods disconnecting from derailleurs randomly, they're going to have to prove this one to me hard.
Yeah, wireless brakes are gonna be a no for me, dawg
I will be my left nut your car uses a electronic throttle body though?
Cars even have electric steering racks now
The future is now old man
Your left nut lives to fight another day.
Can’t wait for sram to offer subscription services for modulation.
Ironically this was just discussed on the velo podcast with Levy (yes I do listen to it just to get some more Levy..). Anyway it was pointed out that whilst cars do have brake by wire they also have a fail safe hydraulic that is user controlled (and not like that patent) if this doesn't then it'll be a hard no.
When your wireless derailleur has a firmware bug, you might get stuck in 1 gear. When your wireless brakes have a firmware bug, you die.
Forestal Siryon V2 with DJI Avinox

“Cars have electric steering racks now”
Having just spent weeks removing an electric rack from a rally car to go back to a fully hydraulic one. I can say, just cos they are newer, definitely doesn’t make them better. The feel and feedback of the hydraulic rack is superior.
Consider this my subscription to the new thread. (Despite its very outdated name, surely it should be about size specific chainstays)
Oh wow, a Forestal that actually looks decent on paper, geo and build are pretty sweet.
I wonder what DJI will announce in February with a spring release beyond minor motor spec bumps, there are so many bikes teasing their DJI bikes for spring (Commencal, Crussis, Forestal...). They all quote 800Wh battery so guessing DJI will not be updating their cells.
I'm curious how long the batteries on wireless brakes would last...
In a car, with cables, it's ok to be constantly sending the brakes the pedal's position, but in a radio environment (especially when you want high Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR)), you would want to be sending out a constant stream of position data at a reasonable power...
My wireless headphones have a fairly substantial battery and they last ~10 hours of play time. Would the brakes (which in my mind are a pretty similar system, electro-mechanical with high SNR requirements) last only 10 hours? Is this acceptable for the no-cables crowd?
I'll bet my right nut they're not wireless though!
Frantically googling wireless throttle bodies
FWIW I am all-in on wireless shifting and no way in hell would I run wireless brakes...
Longer, Slacker, And Stack-er baby!
I'll be the first to admit that super high stack can kill some of your core strength and sit down peddling power on the climbs,,, But, Nothing feels better than standing straight up on the descent, without feeling like you have to crouch forward to have your hands in a relaxed position. If you have to crouch forward to be comfortable, you're wasting energy on all the non technical sections of the downhill. Yeeeewwww!
Teewing made in the same factory as amflow I believe
Does anybody have infos of the release date for the new Cannondale? Regarding that the article on the other site was a couple of months ago and the frame looks almost production ready I'm getting impatient.
I feel like it's gonna be the same as the sight. I already have mine boosted to 170/ 160 with zero issues.
the big difference is on a bike you have 2 independently controlled brakes which provide a redundancy if one fails.
(still not perfect if you're barrelling into something at race pace and are relying on both wheels providing braking...)
while this tech does provide the opportunity for linked brakes and ABS etc, I think that those of us doing "proper" mtbing will still want and need the ability to control each end independently and have the ability to deliberately lock the wheels
I'm also all in on fanboiing electric shifting and I'll be waiting for at least the gen 2 of this.
So more are starting to float around! Yeah the crown and all are still eh but I’m actually sooo pumped to learn about the internals
Unno has one to try right now
