I love the DIWhy vibes from the last few pages 😍 I have been working a lot on the App and the Firmware for the mast month or so. I have made a lot of progress into packaging it into end to end usable, both on desktop and mobile. Major changes Live data! Now you can stream the sensor readings from a connected DAQ in more or less real time (20-30ms delay). You can set the time on the DAQ and you can edit and replace the configuration, without dealing with memory cards and text files! You can also change...

My setup is linkage driven with bearings and cheap rotational sensors ($3 each) The kinematics setup in the app then translates the angle of rotation of the sensor into shock/wheel travel. The firmware/app also support linear sensors. I have compiled extensive documentation on both the firmware architecture, hardware build and daq operation. There is another architecture document for the app which explains the telemetry and kinematics calculations.

Added a couple new notches in the idiot belt recently: My Maven brakes started getting air in the levers and fouling bleeds fairly quickly. First the front, then the rear, then the front again. WTF? Wandering bite point and general ranting ensues for a bit... Further investigation reveals that I had not tightened the hose compression nut to the lever anywhere near the proper 8nm torque. I got at lest a turn and a half on each nut with the crow foot torque wrench. Fresh bleed and haven't had an issue yet this season. Ran the loose hoses for at...

I have 4 pairs of decathlon hiking pants that cost €30 each. They are lighter than a fox flexair, have 4 zippered pockets and are extremely stretchy. I can have a phone in one pocket, snacks in another, car keys in another and still have a spare pocket. I do bug rides all year long and haven't worn a backpack in years (tools on bike). Decathlon now do a decent MTB pant that is a racier fit, but with only 2 pockets so I prefer the hiking one most rides. I bring this up every occasion I can: TLD oversenders...

Just a Concussion Hayden Wright and Jaimi Parr Far too often, the phrase “ just a concussion ” is used to downplay the severity of head injuries sustained in crashes. A knock to the head is frequently considered minor—especially when compared to broken bones or torn ligaments. But the reality is far more complex. In early 2025 long-time contributor Hayden Wright experienced a crash, resulting in a concussion that brought with it symptoms which persisted for months. Though invisible to others, the effects were deeply debilitating, with impacts noticed through every part of day-to-day life. In search of answers and...

Here's a rough idea. I'm sure there are some details missing, and despite my best efforts, this rabbit hole has some twists. So you have Mark Hancock, co-founder of PACS Group, owner of 323 skilled nursing facilities in 17 states. Current net worth estimated at $2.4 billion. PACS went public on the NYSE in 2024 at $21/share, currently at ~$36.50, and Hancock reportedly still holds 35%. The chart, since IPO had some wild moments, but seems to be back on track. Obviously, a very successful entrepreneur at this stage. In April of 2024, Hancock's own PV3 Investments (later PV3 Enterprises)...

A bit of (very) good news for enduro racing. It seems that one of the series that was a pillar in the creation of the EWS is coming back. Something tells me this could end up having a big impact on our sport. https://www.instagram.com/superenduromtb/

Thanks! As to "async" racing, 100% that is a big part of it. I actually considered a very similar approach as V41 but I'm super allergic to building anything that leans into Strava's infrastructure based on their track record. They've shown very little good faith when it comes to playing nice with apps that leverage their API. Things are moving along here. Hoping I have something out there in ~4 weeks Best Jeff

I can speak to clothing as I run a tiny MTB apparel brand, Abit Gear. The short story is that for USA brands, tariffs are making it a royal PITA and covid saw a glut of inventory that isn't yet cleared. Sure, margins are good on paper, but you have a SKU problem with apparel do to size and color variants, you have to carry a lot of aged inventory, and fight discounting from competitors more than with hard goods. For technical apparel, China is, by far, the best quality. Most of the technical apparel factories are in China. They...

4 French DH riders (even not initially planned this way) and a French team manager with background in US motor racing, but living in the Alps. Tell us a bit more about building this team please. (Be carefull, some Vital members may think this team looks too French 🤣)

Hey, I live in Chatel year round and have been here since 2012. If all you want to ride is bikepark then stick to your plan but definitely add Morgins to the list. You can access Morgins from Mossette lift and then get back by riding into Chatel village and taking a bus back to the Chatel bikepark. If you're interested in riding the lesser known but amazing singletrack around the PDS let me know and I'll show you around on my days off. I've also built +30 trails in between Chatel and la chapelle, some of which was used...
