2/3/2024 7:23pm Looks like Thomas Genon is now on GT. It looks like they follow GT and SR, but no longer follow Canyon or Marzocchi. Hand specialists can maybe confirm?

2/3/2024 8:45am Regarding suspension, except Leitner, you also have to think about Jim Busby of GT, as the RTS was probably the first mass produced full suspension bike that actually worked. Then came the LTS, which was popular for good reason, and the i-Drive, that was maybe the first effort to properly isolate suspension movement from the transmission, as early as 1999. GT have videos regarding this on their YouTube channel. Robert Reisinger of Mountain Cycle made the San Andreas, which was way ahead of its time, and of course you have Jeff Steber of Intense, who created the M1. Mert Lawwill's...

2/3/2024 8:41am I would love to see a larger focus on domestic racing and get more involvement nationally as well as more American riders at the world cup. I think Aaron is in a great position for that, especially with his coaching sessions that he's been advertising. There's a lot soon to come from America and I am super excited to see it happen.

2/2/2024 12:37pm I know The Rise sent DJ Brandt a Party Master frame a while back to help him out while he's between sponsors. Not really a team rumour, but it's cool to see smaller brands trying to keep these dudes riding.

2/2/2024 12:30pm re: seatpost sizes - actually, yes we do need the stiffness of the larger 34.9 tube. Not really a "performance" thing, just a reliability of dropper posts thing. I think we blew past the optimum design specs for a 31.6mm tube when droppers reached about 170mm travel so making posts longer than that is a huge challenge if you only have 31.6mm to play with!

2/2/2024 12:29pm Superboost. Specialized, GT, Transition, now all make DH bikes with 148 rear ends that have great results. I will never buy a DH bike that my 2 sets of trail bike wheels can't be backups for. I run all Hope front hubs for this reason. When a company comes out with a Superboost bike it tells me that they fired all their product designers, and let the engineers wear both hats (which we shouldn't). I'd pick 31.6 for the seatpost standard instead of 34.9. Seat tube angles are steep enough, do we really need more stiffness? Didn't we find out...

2/2/2024 11:56am I want one rear axle size (148 is fine), no internal hose routing cause maintenance, 20mm fork axles, and dual crown forks down to 170mm. This is my big personal one frames need to come stock with higher quality better water resistant bearings. I want to be able to blast mud off a bike. Oh and no torx fasteners at all / metric hex under 3mm. Oh and open bath forks for better lubrication. Im still pulling for gearboxes too Sure I'll think of more.

2/2/2024 11:45am How many people here go all in on standardizing their own fleet? I have 3 bikes myself and my wife has two. In order to keep my life simple, spare parts under control and service procedures simple, I've standardized the following in the fleet: -All SRAM brakes with metallic pads. Code RSC on my bikes, Guide/G2 on my wife's bikes. 200mm hs2 rotors across all bikes -All SRAM drivetrains, all 12 speed and all 10-50t cassettes -All dt350 hubs -30mm IW wheels on everything to ensure tires/casings act the same on each bike -Oneup seatposts on every bike -Dub cranks...

Edthorne Added a reply to Do pros remove their hardware post surgery? (Also, did you?)
2/2/2024 8:49am I did my collar bone a few seasons back. It was displaced enough that the only option was surgery. I had a nice "skin tent" situation going on there while I waited for surgery. Pretty gross to look at. I opted to keep the hardware in, partially because I didn't want to have to go through surgery/recovery again, and partially...

2/2/2024 7:43am Shimano XT M8000 was released in 2015 with 11-42 cassette if I'm not mistaken. For me that was vaible 1x11 back then, not really modern 500% range though.

2/2/2024 7:42am No offense to Chris Cocalis and the Pivot team, but it really always was just about Pivot being a bunch of weirdos. Not even joking: The real reason Pivot started using 157 Superboost on the 2017 Switchblade was to be able to fit a 27,5x2.8" plus-size tire into a frame with extremely short chainstays, while also having a front derailleur. That's the real reason. Because in 2017 they still thought plus tires, short chainstays and front derailleurs were the future of mountainbiking.
