Yeah I have a VHS player and a bunch of VHS tapes so it’s gonna take something compelling to get me to switch to Betamax.

It's nice to be able to move things around if you break something.... I only have as many wheelsets as I have bikes and when I break a wheel it's nice to still have a choice of what bike to ride, even if the wheels mismatch. Per your Betamax point: with the privilege of hindsight, it's pretty easy to see that we were just fine without Betamax, even if it was a marginally better product. Technology still progressed and we didn't all throw away our new VHS tapes and players right after buying them. I'd be happy if 157 went...

There’s no place for that attitude here, I suggest you quieten down or find positive things to say. Straight up, people are losing their livelihoods this year and they’re going to be in turmoil, put yourself in their shoes and be kind or keep your hate in that thick skull.

In my experience, Shimano derailleur clutches (especially on their 12-speed products) are often under-lubricated from the factory and suffer from water ingress. I like the ease of service on the Shimano clutch mechanism, though. It's one of those things where if you're willing to service it slightly more often (not just the actual clutch, but the main pivot, too) it can last a very long time. FWIW Shimano does actually specify a breakaway force for their clutch in their tech docs, and if you're running it substantially tighter than that you might experience premature wear.
