3/27/2025 5:02pm Sure, people like to root for the underdog, for the kid who came from nothing (or worse than nothing) and overcame all that. And there's a lot to be said about people who just don't excel at school but are otherwise intelligent, hard-working, caring, or any other positive character trait you want. We like those stories because they are rare. A race team is a business, and that means team managers are looking for people who have a high chance of meeting their goals. Having a high GPA (which is one of the few ways someone this age can show...

3/27/2025 2:32pm Very curious to see the reviews on the mech transmission. Specifically, how much of the “amazing shifting under load” is really due to the firmware rate limiting the shifts, vs the actual cassette design (Ofc if the system prevents you from dumping gears in a bad place or otherwise shifting like an idiot then the shifting will appear to be better…). Also more curiosity than ever to try and run the direct mount derailleur with a shimano hyperglide chain and cassette….probably need to swap the jockey wheels but otherwise it should work?

3/26/2025 6:21am The holes increase airflow around the stanchion, aiding cooling and improving damping consistency by 11%. As a side note, 80% of statistics are made up on the spot.

3/17/2025 12:56pm I think you guys who are this picky just need to not buy stock bikes. Or not expect perfection. I recently bought a complete bike. Changed out the dropper, handlebar, grips, and rotors. After spending $500 on that it was STILL cheaper than if I’d pieced it together myself Now shut the fuck up about dropper length and show me shiny new bike parts.

3/17/2025 12:55pm I thought you were right so I built one! dropperchecker.com Doesn't solve the missing frame insertion info. But still makes it a bit easier to make a call.

3/11/2025 9:21pm Agree on the UX comment. The simplicity of the RBTV app is so good. I'd disagree on the timing comment as effective, accurate and consistent timing is a fundamental for DH racing. My point is that what we got from RBTV at Crankwork Rotorua is basically what we always got at world cups. No full top to bottom runs, less women and glitches on screen. Even though everyone keeps barking on about how RB was so much better. My point being RBTV offered an inferior WC broadcast but the attraction was it was free

3/5/2025 3:43pm The primary source of friction in chain drives (cross chaining aside) is the links rotating as they enter each chain ring. The larger the degree that the rotate, the more friction there is. Larger chain rings equate to less friction because the chain links don't have to rotate as much. The amount of chain actually in contact with the chain ring does not matter because it's static relative to the chain ring. For example, on a 36T chain ring each link has to rotate 10 degrees relative to the adjacent link as it enters the chain ring. Meanwhile, on a...
