Honestly, a GREAT move for Orbea. I don’t hear them mentioned when people talk about bikes that do well in “gravity” uses. This is the path forward to change that. This is great marketing during a time other brands are drastically cutting their marketing back. Also, being an employee-owned company is awesome. I hope the result of all this for Orbea is some awesome bikes and a bunch of wins, including a Women’s World Cup Overall. Consider that an official prediction from a guy who knows not-that-much about DH racing.

Alright, back to having a little bit of fun... In a surprise to many, the #3 Phoebe Gale rumor turns out to be false. She is sticking with FMD as predicted by... the Orbea FMD press release. Not to weigh in on signing Mr. Daprela in any way, I'm an attorney and I'd say it's never safe to assume somebody has done their due diligence or sought legal advice until proven otherwise. It'd make my job quite a bit easier if it weren't the case.

Alleged still doesn't look good to people buying products. If I was a bike shop owner and somebody applied to work there and was alleged to be replacing customers' fork oil with olive oil and skidding the showroom bike tires in the parking lot, I wouldn't hire him, because our customers wouldn't trust him to work on their bike. Daprela is alleged of much worse. I just can't see how that makes sense for Rogue Racing's sponsors.

Disappointing to see there are still teams willing to support Daprela after what he is alleged to have done. There are a ton of other riders without teams that are almost as fast and come with none of the baggage. I would've thought sponsors would prefer their riders to be fast and good human beings, rather than just fast.

Considering he's world champ you'd think he'd be on the muc off team, but then again someone said Dan atherton could win a World Cup this year so any thing is possible

There are many current and recently ex-employees from Rocky, and almost all of them had no bearing on the current financial outcome of the company.

I can assure you there's less Capex with their method of manufacturing than the traditional carbon molding methods. Same goes for their alloy frames vs. traditional construction methods. Their unit costs might be a touch higher and might not scale as easily or cost effectively but my assumption is they don't sell enough frames to be successful the traditional way with amortizing tooling costs so it seems they are taking the right approach. Capex can higher on alu projects than carbon ones, but the volumes with alloy make it worthwhile to turn a profit. For all small and medium brands...
