I don't believe that is what's really going on for a couple of reasons. 1, rubber generally expands much more than aluminum when heated so adding heat makes the seal fit tighter. 2, when designing our calipers we found that without compression played less of a roll with pad retract than you'd think. Too little compression creates sealing issues and too much increases risk of compression set. What I think is mostly likely causing what they are experiencing is super hard braking. That happens to usually correspond with lots of heat. Since seal deflection controls pad retract, if you apply...

Get frames to spec 8x30 shock hardware on every frame every time- can run standard hardware or bearings that way. More compatibility for shock swapping. 34.9 seat posts 49mm chain line (6mm offset chainrings) Design 29” bike kinematic for 30t chain rings 31.8 handlebar Everything is pretty amazing now considering where we were 10-15 years ago.

Norco is bringing a lot of engineering firepower into the design of their new DH rig. There’s a ton of adjustability built in, and that level of maintenance is common, if not expected, at the World Cup level. If this bike sees commercial release, it’ll likely be dumbed down for the average consumer with limited adjustment. Neko is a smart guy, but he’s not an engineer. He’s intentionally built his bike to be simple and behave the way he likes.

Longtime NE Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a polarizing figure in American sports, but there's this quote he said that I love and can't get out of my head, "Coaches don't win games. Only the players on the field can win games. Coaches can lose games, though." That's what I think about bikes in competition. Bikes can't win races, but they can lose races. As such, my goal in setting up a bike is that it doesn't lose me the race, i.e. mechanical drag or inefficiency, mechanical failure, flat tires, inconsistent or unpredictable performance, major unpleasant tradeoffs, etc. Basically if...

Yeah I don't think you will get much agreement on what is "correct", forks and shocks both compromise here but probably for slightly different reasons! First thing is your low speed adjuster has a massive effect on the whole range of speeds so sometimes the shims don't open until way over 1m/s, but then they don't want the overall damping to be too firm and why most companies use a digressive design so you can add damping at lower speeds without increasing too much at high speed. Problem is a lot of people need that extra high speed damping so...

I know there exists a video in which Aaron Gwin says his physical strength is the only thing holding him back in going faster so I would not say that strengthy is underrated at all

Was re-reading through an article from the other site about the high pivot DW patent, and I thought it would be worth sharing Dave Weagle’s thoughts on axle path for the discussion:

To be honest the welds joining the front shock eyelet to either part of the downtube are fairly obvious... Even on a mobile screen.

if intense factory racing isn't intense factory racing because intense isn't a sponsor, that means intense factory racing is shutdown/dissolved/whatever you want to call it. even if there is a team w/ the same management/players, it won't be called intense factory racing therefore intense factory racing ceases to exist, right?

Long time lurker but first time poster. Didn’t want to comment but with that photo released the cat is probably out of the bag. That is the Atherton AL170? aluminium prototype at Dyfi. Had a good look back in the summer, was just on an uplift and got talking to one of their trail builders. He was very open about it, answering all my questions! They’ve all been testing it all summer, basically trying to destroy it by putting years worth of riding into months. It was absolutely beat up when I saw it, but he said it’s indestructible. Aluminium...
