Yeah I think the swing link is the main difference, gives it a rising leverage ratio for a nicer feel along with better pad clearance. Brakes without it tend to either have long throw or constantly rub. Shimano is the same, their servo wave feature used to only be on SLX and above, but it looks like that is used down to deore level now! (Also it took my brain way too long to remember the name of SLX - kept going to search for Deore LX ) Honestly, people just need to learn how to bleed and service brakes...

The public perception of Srams brake options over the years has mind fucked me. In the not too distant past there were world cup DH riders using guides and most people were fairly happy with them. For quite a while now Codes (especially the RSC) has been a benchmark for a very good brake for basically any application and everybody decided to shit on guides. Now that mavens simply exist I guess we have to steer clear of codes because they are garbage now. I’ll be on current saints till I need adult diapers.

Orbea Rallon always gets very good reviews, pick a Santa Cruz in your category also. Nothing will be miles better than a Sentinel which is already such a solid bike so maybe look for extra features like in frame storage etc I'm considering the new Rocky Altitude, but I'd say it's more race bike than all mountain

Lets not fan boy too hard on these I have a V1, and V2 OneUp dropper that are not exceptions to the rule when it comes to both reliability, or standouts for OneUps customer relations. Both are known to be questionable (looking at you bushing that literally eat themselves) and any PB or NSMB review went on to claim them as the best thing since sliced bread, when PNW stuff quietly worked better, and were better to their customers. I'll reserve any opinion on these hubs for actual long term reviews. As a side note, I'm a fan of OneUp...

As a former shop mechanic who regularly had to deal with "I tried to fix it myself" clusterfucks, I think you're underestimating how many people overestimate their mechanical competency.

Maribor has hosted World Cup DH, World Cup ski racing, and Europa Cup ski racing (which is the feeder series to the world cup). I don't think the venue has an issue holding expensive events. I would guess this is specific to the iXS cup, and that the venue isn't forecasting a good return on this particular event. In short the UCI could do more to prop up their feeder series, especially if their long term plan is smaller World Cups.
