First, it's not "xenophobic" to try to avoid buying MIC goods if the issue is philosophical and political. China is our enemy, Xi is an authoritarian communist who commits genocide. It was a horrible mistake to partner with China and offshore our manufacturing to them in the first place. Second, Taiwan and China are not the same country despite what Xi thinks. There's a MASSIVE difference between the two and if you won't buy Taiwanese goods then that may have an underlying xenophobic reason. Last, Lewis is a direct rip off of another company's IP. Not everyone is ok with...

I don't think it's xenophobia as much as it is that they appear to be a straight rip-off off of Trickstuff. Will be interesting to see if DT Swiss feels the same way (and does something about it).

That sock game is getting out of hand. Though it looks like Evoc has you covered for future applications 😉

Don't get it what the big deal with mentioning Pinkbike is... I feel the community and the vibe there is far from good, but is there a need to skirt around the name too? It's not like we're talking about Voldermort...

Sorry, thought I had. Rushed post before I took my wife out for lunch. I'd sooner piss off a bunch a forum nerds than her. Lets face it though I would've got in shit with someone for daring to mention "the other site".

We had to introduce a "piss charge" of $100 for hosing the tri bikes down before the techs worked on them. IYKYK.

I don’t think anyone here has said they don’t deserve to GET paid or get a raise. You’re only arguing with yourself on that FRONT. The objections have come from THEIR methods to achieve IT.

I watched a bit and there is video from Wednesday demanding (their words not mine) by Friday hotels paid for, appearance fee for all riders and schedule change to avoid wind delays. OK so they flew there and then gave 48 hours notice they won't complete unless we get more money. So how much did they spend ro go and make NOTHING or did they really honestly think they would just get what they wanted because you know it's slopestyle?

haven't read it through so right this second i'm only posting to share, this isn't a statement of agreeance or disagreement Rant Alert: I retired from the Crankworx World Tour at the end of the 2022 season after my 20th year of working on the project. As a co-founder of the tour and former co-owner, I am completely disheartened by the male slopestyle athlete's decision to not participate in the 2024 season's kick-off event in Rotorua. Holding last minute negotiations to get appearance fees and increased prize money after traveling to the event already knowing what the prize money status...

The NFL doesn't pay players. F1 doesn't pay Lewis. The NBA doesn't pay LeBron. The venues they play in don't pay them either. I don't think you understand who the riders "work for".

It took my union close to 18 months to negotiate our latest contract for marginal increases. Most contract negotiations with unions take time you can’t just show up and demand more then walk off after a few days of talks. I definitely think they should be paid well but like others have said how much is actually available to spend on athletes after all the event costs are considered. Most cycling disciplines do not make much from prize money and very few get appearance money.
