I think the chainring is wearing quicker for two reasons. Firstly it's aluminium, whereas the chain and cassette are (mostly) steel, so it's a softer material. Secondly the chainring has only 30-34ish teeth and the wear is concentrated on them, the wear on the cassette is spread over multiple sprockets, likewise the chain will have over 100 rollers to spread the load. I'm a big fan of steel chainrings to offset this concentrated wear, plus a clean drivetrain and a wax lubricant seems to also help. Chains are definitely more durable than they once were and overall I see longer...

Took me a bit to dig this up... Specialized patent drawing from late 2023. Looks like they're continuing to iterate on this.

The guys at Onlymotion are close to selling their wireless electronics kit. Pretty amazing that they have managed to pack all this into such a small volume. Also, I truly appreciate that you can charge it without removing the dropper, in contrast to certain mtbr comments. As long as you utilize this conversion kit with any of your mechanical droppers that fit it, you just need to put the included USB-C into the frame once. 10min for 2000 actuations and no proprietary charger sounds good to me. Might be difficult to fit the right insertion on some frames with the...

Ironically, for the cost of 1 electronic dropper, you could buy 3 normal droppers and wouldn't need to swap anything. Bikers will buy the most stupid sh*t and electronic droppers is at the top of that list.

Was literally about to post this. One of my LBS has one and uses them for bleeding all the TRP stuff they sell. Seems to work but also seems a bit pointless to me considering a regular bleed on most decent brake systems takes 5 to 10 minutes.

That looks real nice. Any idea on price... If its designed with at home servicing in mind, then hopefully it won't be as expensive as the "pro" ones.

long time reader first time poster here.. friends of mine are developing an vacuum bleeder for shocks and fork dampers to fully service your suspension at home, without the need of messy handbleeding. I just got the chance to try the machine myself and it works pretty straight forward. I thought i spread the word in here because i think this is a pretty cool innovation in the mtb tech for home mechanics/ race day applications etc. https://www.futureliteindustries.com/

I remember watching Emeline Ragot ripping workd cup dh tracks on a 29er that looked massive for her... I am afraid we will see such things again, because "20% more traction and roll over obstacles" 29 ain't dead

They have so much space behind the seat tube to install all that hardware. Looks like a fun project.

My opinion... Used ebikes have the re-sale value of a pringles can left out in the rain for 4 weeks and full of water. Any real mileage on them (over 300-500) and there will be practically no interest, even at 50% under msrp. Not a shocker, but it's a turn in the market where your ownership decisions are now impacted by that. Previously, the move was either get a new ebike every year before the depreciation got gnarly, or just hold onto it and run it into the ground. Now the answer is clear, run it into the ground and...

32" is clearly too large. 29", on the other hand, might not be large enough. So obviously the future is going to be 30.5" wheels.

If the niche for 32" wheels is people over 6'6" tall, it's hard to make a business case for making them. If the niche for 26" wheels is people under 5'6" tall, that's much easier to justify because not only are there grown adults under 5'6" tall, every adult who is over 5'6", was at some time under 5'6".

While I'm here. Is it rude to spread my own rumors? Yesterday I released v2 Digit frames. I don't have a marketing plan so for now I've just posted a list of improvements here: digitbikes.com/blog/changeblog. I'm also going to start selling a frame-only option, and an aluminum wheel build.
