Can’t class 3 ebikes legally have a throttle up to 20mph? It’s not so much the 28mph that’s the issue, it’s the can of worms you open by legalizing class 3 ebike use.

You've got that backwards, It is a class 3 ebike with the option to turn on a 20mph speed limiter. That is the only way to logically treat this bike, and it is definitely a bad idea. Be prepared for land managers to not allow any specialized ebikes because of it.

I am personally very concerned about the ability for the user to toggle to class 3 and the higher speed cutoff. Specialized just opened a can of worms with access issues and ebikes being lumped in with electric motorbikes. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

Are these the rumoured Brembo brakes, would make sense as they are already sponsored by Ohlins?

Geo looks pretty solid to me, I like the XL with the 445 stays (low bb mx wheels)

Party Foul. Some will blame the taping crew for not blocking off spectators. I blame everyone standing here. STAY OUT OF THE APEX of turns. You block sight lines & in this case, you literally block the line & put racers in danger. And no, it's not an oopsie. I've had my bar ripped out my hand by dip wads leaning into the track. Can you imagine Gwin's season or career ending in this turn?

HBO is a nice "safety" feature - you can make a good shock without it so I'm not sure if its a deal breaker but I would definitely prefer HBO than externally adjustable High speed rebound.

I don't want to devolve this into a ebike battery thread... (but I can't resist) I burned through ~85% of an 800w battery on the gen 5 motor in around 2 hours. Granted it was a little cold outside and I weigh ~180lbs. But 5k climbing isn't that much for a weekend ride when you've got a motor. I'm sure the Vala is a great bike and you can use a range extender. But I think a lot of consumers are scratching their head with the forced 600wh move. I'm betting a lot of people will appreciate an 840wh battery...

Air shocks aside, the temp of the shock doesn’t really tell you anything if you don’t know the tune and what it has just done. It’s a simple conservation of energy equation. The heat generated by the damper is the work it has done to absorb impacts.

aletha won by 4 seconds IIRC, too. it was a great race. it rained last night making the rocks and roots slick, but the dirt was still super grippy. by the time practice ended, it was drying out, then as the early ams went up, it rained for a bit, making it pretty sloppy (they had the worst of it). by the end of pro men, it was drying out nicely until about the last 12 or so riders, then it rained again. tricky conditions for everyone but definitely the last 3-5 men. there was a lot of post-race talk...

Sure, people like to root for the underdog, for the kid who came from nothing (or worse than nothing) and overcame all that. And there's a lot to be said about people who just don't excel at school but are otherwise intelligent, hard-working, caring, or any other positive character trait you want. We like those stories because they are rare. A race team is a business, and that means team managers are looking for people who have a high chance of meeting their goals. Having a high GPA (which is one of the few ways someone this age can show...

I like that they're still encouraging the kids to excel at school at the same time (listing their GPAs). Way to lead by example Neko & FW.
