4/29/2019 8:36pm Spoken like someone who's never tried to be competitive at an elite level enduro. The weekend is long and stressful AF. It takes an incredible amount of logistics AND fitness just to get your practice laps in, and then you've gotta worry about leaving enough in the tank to race well. It's certainly not what I'd call "relaxing," and these guys want to offer a care-free weekend where you're still finding out who ripped the descent fastest. Why does that insult your sense of bike-gaming so much? Look, this format will never be considered a test of pedaling fitness combined...

4/29/2019 2:42pm a couple questions 1. did red bull negotiate this as part of their contract with the uci? 2. is red bull paying for exclusivity on the podium or otherwise? some opinions i would think that the other teams and sponsors involved in the uci dh circuit most certainly would have needed to been aware of this exclusivity that red bull wants. i would presume that you cannot just come in after the fact and say oh by the way we want exclusive advertising rights for the podium. this seems like a pretty cut and dried contractual issue to me. if...

4/29/2019 2:39pm Without the sport would die??? That‘s bullshit Red Bull came when Downhill was big on Freecaster, Red Bull pays more money, that‘s all. With a lot of bad decisions in the past! Limited Content, one hour brake after the woman’s finals...no Red Bull isn‘t what the sport need. They‘re bring a lot good things of course, but not just good

4/7/2019 7:24am RE: The Critics Does electric shifting also count as "E" mtb? Additive energy to a part of the bicycle system formerly and purely rider powered. Minimally, but literally, adding energy to a system that has historically been purely rider energy powered. Seriously. Additive energy to shifting system is OK? Just not the drive system? Brake and dropper post systems may be next. Increasing the additive energy.

3/29/2019 7:02pm just put up florian's bike from tasmania https://www.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/Whats-Stock-Whats-Not-Tasmania… he's full DH casing because he likes the feel. it's been mentioned numerous times by plenty of riders, but the damping and feel of heavier tires or setups w/ inserts seems to be embraced for performance. just like you're saying lee, weight is not an issue for serious competitors in these gravity disciplines. grip and momentum is what counts. i've been on some lighter-casing tires lately and i really dislike rocky sections as they feel like balloons or beach balls getting bounced around. they're fun going up, but not worth the trade-off...

3/29/2019 7:01pm Maybe if there were a track that required constant accelerations the added weight might be detrimental, but that doesn't really describe a modern DH track. The same could be said about 29 inch wheels, but the fact that almost everyone has made the move to the bigger wheels suggests more of a premium on maintaining and gaining speed, and a heavy tire while being more difficult to accelerate is also going to hold that momentum once up to pace (much like a 29 inch wheel). I believe it was Graves who mentioned this at Worlds in South Africa a few...

3/29/2019 7:01pm add two pieces of cush core and you are on the scale, also honestly I would say for DH the edge of where the bike is too light could be around 15,5kg, it can be just a feeling, but I don´t like to ride really light bikes on gnarly trails, first thing is just the feeling is not so reliable, the second is that the heavier bikes sits better on track and not jumping around

3/21/2019 4:49pm I like it. I still don't quite understand the hate for e-bikes. I mean, I understand the argument against them and I'm willing to concede that they are technically "motorized cycles," but to compare any e-bike to a true motorcycle is a big stretch, at least in terms of power and destruction.

3/17/2019 4:41pm There's a lot of mis-information in the comments here. 1) Specialized DOES NOT pay shops to build any bike. 2) Yes, higher end Specialized bikes are coming as what they call "Shop Built" meaning it's a frame and a kit and about a 3 hour build for a mountain bike built well. 3) It is not 'zero risk' to the retailer. If the customer orders the wrong bike or simply decides they don't want it, the shop gets paid $75 to send it back. That's $75 to build, set-up with customer, manage the return, and re-box the bike. That's at...
