10/23/2025 4:43pm This is the best meme I have seen on this site since I joined. Currently have 10 bikes and 3 project frames in the house that I'll get to at some point in the next 15 years of which 9 are mountain bikes, and two of the ones that aren't are technically mountain bikes.

10/21/2025 10:10pm I'm locking this thread for a day or two. Not trying to be rude, I'd actually love to jump in myself, but we've gone way off the rails. None of this ties back to the bike or outdoor industry directly. If you want to continue the AI discussion, please start a new thread, take it to X/Twitter, or head over to LinkedIn. Those platforms are built for this kind of speculation (and overflowing with this sort of banter). I want to keep this space focused on industry-specific topics. Nothing personal,I genuinely enjoy these conversations, this is just a "thread hygiene"...

9/19/2025 10:03pm Disagree. I do less maintenance on my electronic stuff than I ever did on mechanical. The stuff that does get maintained is present in both flavors (i.e. jockey wheel bearings). The time I spend annually removing batteries to put them on chargers & replacing them is measured in single digit minutes. I'm not saying that everyone SHOULD go wireless, I'm just saying the anti-battery crowd makes wireless systems out to be some overly complex thing when in reality they're not.

DesertRat Liked a product review More Mountain Bike Than Motorcycle - Propain SRESH SL Review

If you're an aggressive rider chasing a non-motorized e-bike ride feel that prioritizes downhill handling and performance, look no further than the Propain Sresh SL. Vital has spent the last few months aboard a burly, custom-spec'd build of this lightweight eMTB and our experience has been eye-opening. Highlights High modulus blend full-carbon frame 150mm rear travel, 160mm front travel (Propain offers 170mm fork options in their configurator) PRO10 suspension platform with 25% progression 210x55mm shock Dual-29-inch wheels or mixed wheels (tested) TQ HPR60 motor, 350W, 60Nm, up to 200% support Top tube-integrated display Removable 360Wh (1,835g) or 580Wh (2,695g, tested)...

8/21/2025 11:52pm Not a rumor. They bought MI, dumped a bunch of capital into helping them develop V2 and then pulled the plug a year ago as a cost saving measure. It was a whole.... thing.

7/21/2025 5:59pm Hey everyone, not mad at anyone in this thread (besides maybe myself). I clearly have ideas and a delivery style that probably isn’t ideal for a mountain bike forum. Robot wrote a genuinely great post (he’s a better writer than me), and I realized there was no way for me to counter it. Not because I didn’t have anything to say, but because I started turning into this (actual photo Tucker took of me this morning): Any frustration you see from me is with myself, not anyone else. I like friction. I like debate. What I don’t like is knowing...

7/20/2025 4:29pm If you haven't watched it yet, drop everything and watch the 35 second video on the link in the original post (above my comment). And yes, you need to watch the WHOLE 35 seconds.

7/14/2025 9:47pm Getting everything compatible with latest spec is not always that viable and everything battery operated is generally BLE. 2 minutes for a file transfer is crazy. Bluetooth also has a bunch of licensing requirements (and expenses) that are pretty outrageous for small manufacturers. It's also not very scalable. Once you start adding additional sensors (like IMUS) the files can get massive. For 3-5 minutes runs I frequently see >200Mb. USB or Wifi is just a much better technology for file transfer.

7/2/2025 1:18pm I don’t mean to sound like I'm being a dickish techno optimist (or techno pessimist) but I don’t buy the idea that labor costs or a younger generation's aversion to blue-collar work are the main (or any part of the) bottlenecks to reshoring manufacturing. The next-gen factory won’t rely on human labor for much, especially in areas like metal, plastics, or semiconductor work. Maybe textiles are different, but in general, we're entering a fully automated era. This shift started in the '90s and is now going exponential. The real constraints are going to be electricity costs and the specialized knowledge...

6/6/2025 9:40pm I'm at Leogang this weekend and wanted to get a sense of how widely pedal kickback devices have been adopted by World Cuppers, along with all the other wild accessories like TMD's/shakeweights, electronics, gearboxes, and more. So out of curiosity and as a service to my fellow nerds, I stood at the top of Q1 today and counted all the devices I could. Note that certain devices were almost certainly undercounted, like shakeweights, added mass, and fancy chainring devices like Ochain or Rimpact (drivetrains were facing away from me in the starting lineup). There were 20 bikes total where I...

6/3/2025 8:42am I didn't look much at first... But, for a company like Canyon, it makes sense... More eyeballs that may not have looked at them before and since they are already set up with warehousing and shipping capacity, they aren't getting hit with a ton of fees from Amazon.. And, if you work at a shop, it's most likely the best Amazon build that you could hope for..

6/3/2025 7:31am I think the press release touted minimal models and a strategy like you're noting but when this first came out a few weeks ago I looked around out of interest and virtually everything was available in all sizes. I then heard one podcast (might have been Geek Warning) say the same thing. I honestly hadn't looked since so not sure...

5/20/2025 7:22am Freaky Nuts also makes them. I'm considering put a Fox 40 on my A.170 for park use this season and ordered one of these for the conversion if I go that way. The materials seem to be of high quality. Compatible with Boxxer, Fox 40 and Rux38. https://www.freakynuts.com
