It’s not just the cassette that’s magic. Insiders at both Shimano and Sram have explained it to me like this: There’s nothing timing the first movement of the derailleur except your thumb pressing the button. The first actual chain derailment might not happen immediately however because the cassettes have been designed to very strongly encourage the shift to occur only where the gates/ramps allow it. 1) Worst ergonomics ever? The pod is fine... literally a button for up and down and plenty adjustable. Took me ten mins to dial in and never thought about it again. 2) Transmission clutch is great, completely silent.. old AXS quite literally known for bad clutch issues... 3) Weight is fine, cranks are a little heavy but there's other crank options (which I use). Everything else is on par with XT (derailleur heavier, cassette lighter, balances out) The pricing is frustrating which is understandably why it gets the hate. Yeah I'm wondering if that could be a good option...definitely leaning more towards the downhill side of things rather than the perfect balance. Curious if the new stumpy could be the ticket or if the switchblade is still the best move. Don't think selling the sentinel and then buying a fresh one makes much sense either so might just have to sit and wait for a little while.

I didn't ever mesh with the Stumpy on tech climbs (others love it so I concede this could be a me problem) and found the old Switchblade equal or better on everything else...

To dig this up, suffered a crash in my sight lap last weekend before the actual dh race that day. Ended up in the hospital Sunday night and ultimately got a surgery first thing Monday to fuse my c4,5,6. The spinal ortho surgeons at Harborview were adamant that the leatt brace did not make my injury worse and likely prevented it from being worse. It is expected I will make a full recovery minus the 10% loss in flexibility in my neck due to the fuse. I’ll be pushing these things on my friends for the rest of my life...

I've had almost all of them with ride time and the Trickstuff has a lot of similarities with Hope, the quality is just slightly more refined and better, but not by much. They also ditch DOT, which I know some people care more about than others, although it's a big issue in the US where Bionol is nearly impossible to find. I tripped over my bottle and nearly lost half of it, which made for a rough moment and a few bad words. I also feel at the price point they should include bleed tools, Intend does and IMO there...

Actually my Relay is the best handling bike I've ever ridden. The 430 watt battery is plenty for a several hour long ride. I don't care one bit about the mediocre controller or the display, as all it does is give me an idea of how much juice I have and I usually notice it 2-5x over a several hour ride. It has more than enough power for my needs. The motor is reliable enough and they are rebuildable for a couple of hundred and last a few years anyways. Electric motors are very old technology and don't have room...

3/16/2024 5:08pm The Frameworks DH bike blows away any DH bike I have tried. I was very happy with the Phoenix and I’m a huge fan of Pivot in general. Unfortunately it isn’t comparable. The Frameworks bike, even though I set it up as a hybrid Enduro bike, is night and day better.

Would be cool to see a link for the upcoming Norco Fluid VLT that bumped the travel up to 160. A 160/160 trail emtb under 45 pounds with the SX motor--that would be rad.
