8/6/2024 11:55am Showed up today. Will likely head to a bike park on 8/30 so that's probably when I'll try it out and will post a review in a separate thread when I do (sorry not a rumor but relevant to what we had discussed). Feels very solidly built and installation looks extremely straightforward.

8/4/2024 5:46pm I really wasn't meaning to direct anything negative at you. No one really cares how fast you or me can get down a trail. Hell, in the grand scheme of things, very, very, very few people care how fast Aumary or Loic can get down a trail, thus the current state of downhill. My crass thought process on buying a frame is to narrow it down to choices that make sense and then buy whatever gets my juices flowing the most. We ought be excited about the bikes we own. Neko definitely reminds of Ben Cathro: based on what you...

8/4/2024 12:34pm Thanks. I suppose I'm fascinated with the fascination with Frameworks. I would think there are not all that many people who pay for their frames (i.e., not sponsors, employee discount, or mommy and daddy), can afford such an incredibly expensive frame, and are fast enough that the frame is a good choice for them. But, even if you imagine the whole thing without Asa, it's been a creative and brilliant way to make a bike for the highest level of racing while simultaneously create value for sponsors by generating a tremendous amount of attention. It dismays me to see such...

8/4/2024 12:31pm All of this is fair and I have no problem with you having that opinion. I bought it as much to support Frameworks as I did to have a new downhill bike because I like supporting certain stories and, while I don’t know him personally, I know some people who do and without exception they have nothing but great things...

8/2/2024 6:26pm Curious what y'all know about the new Specialized tires with tire dampening technology. Is that like a mud conditions tire for wet terrain? Or is it a dry tire, but it dampens the dirt so it becomes wet and tacky?

8/2/2024 8:21am I know at least three people who do this. Briefly did so myself but in the end I just decided I don’t want to take that step before every ride and, even though it has the best action of any post I’ve used, it isn’t always the best choice.

8/1/2024 11:30pm An experienced downhill rider basically becoming a self taught engineer, documenting his successes and failures for the world to see, producing the bike he thinks is best and bringing it to the World Cup stage successfully. If you thought by mission I meant “saving the world” or “curing cancer” well, I didnt 😂 This just MTB after all. I just...

8/1/2024 4:40pm Well, here’s one thing I can already say that is very positive about Padmelon. I placed my order yesterday but was hemming and hawing about whether to order for my DH bike or enduro bike. I decided enduro and quickly ordered as I was late getting out the door. Apparently I had mistakenly added the mount for my DH bike instead...

8/1/2024 4:32pm There’s one element you’re forgetting if you do your own work. I have the tools, small parts, lubricants, etc to maintain certain brands and therefore I tend to choose them. I’m a big believer in using the right tool for the job when possible so I tend to stick with the same brands when possible so that I can easily...

7/31/2024 10:43pm Interestingly I was amazed at how flimsy and cheap XT shifter feels compared to X01 and GX mechanical shifters... So much so that Shimano became a non option for me. Plus the cage lock.

7/31/2024 9:40am Any bike with a SRAM motor and auto shift requires it. I owned a Repeater for a few months (hated it, full power e-MTBs just aren’t for me) and I can say with 100% certainty that it worked that way.

7/31/2024 1:38am As a resident bumbler I'm willing to guinea pig it for you. Will let you know once I have it and have tried it out but, sadly, my guess is that like 90%+ of all other stuff I buy, it will not change my riding experience in a meaningful way.

7/31/2024 1:32am There are multiple e-bikes that allow this already, e.g. Transition Repeater PT

7/29/2024 5:46pm I want to make it clear that I’m not answering this sarcastically. Here’s why: The answer is that I don’t have a great answer because it just hasn’t happened. I have one XX SL drivetrain with almost 1800 miles on it and it has worked flawlessly the entire time. The rest of mine have far less and one did have...
I built my Frameworks downhill bike with full GX AXS transmission because I wanted to be able to use it occasionally without having to drive a minimum of 4 hours. Works great overall but I don’t know of a way could limit to an ideal set of gears without just changing it back to the Saint I originally put on...

7/26/2024 9:01pm I don’t care all that much about cost or a little extra weight. I have Transmission on 10 of my MTBs (sold 1, used to be 11) and have installed it on several more for friends or other bikes I have sold. Never once had a battery issue and have never even considered batteries as a thought. It is just...
