All of this is fair and I have no problem with you having that opinion. I bought it as much to support Frameworks as I did to have a new downhill bike because I like supporting certain stories and, while I don’t know him personally, I know some people who do and without exception they have nothing but great things...

Curious what y'all know about the new Specialized tires with tire dampening technology. Is that like a mud conditions tire for wet terrain? Or is it a dry tire, but it dampens the dirt so it becomes wet and tacky?

I know at least three people who do this. Briefly did so myself but in the end I just decided I don’t want to take that step before every ride and, even though it has the best action of any post I’ve used, it isn’t always the best choice.

An experienced downhill rider basically becoming a self taught engineer, documenting his successes and failures for the world to see, producing the bike he thinks is best and bringing it to the World Cup stage successfully. If you thought by mission I meant “saving the world” or “curing cancer” well, I didnt 😂 This just MTB after all. I just...

Well, here’s one thing I can already say that is very positive about Padmelon. I placed my order yesterday but was hemming and hawing about whether to order for my DH bike or enduro bike. I decided enduro and quickly ordered as I was late getting out the door. Apparently I had mistakenly added the mount for my DH bike instead...

There’s one element you’re forgetting if you do your own work. I have the tools, small parts, lubricants, etc to maintain certain brands and therefore I tend to choose them. I’m a big believer in using the right tool for the job when possible so I tend to stick with the same brands when possible so that I can easily...

Interestingly I was amazed at how flimsy and cheap XT shifter feels compared to X01 and GX mechanical shifters... So much so that Shimano became a non option for me. Plus the cage lock.

Any bike with a SRAM motor and auto shift requires it. I owned a Repeater for a few months (hated it, full power e-MTBs just aren’t for me) and I can say with 100% certainty that it worked that way.

As a resident bumbler I'm willing to guinea pig it for you. Will let you know once I have it and have tried it out but, sadly, my guess is that like 90%+ of all other stuff I buy, it will not change my riding experience in a meaningful way.

Where's the option that says: I hate derailleurs equally no matter the actuation power source.

I want to make it clear that I’m not answering this sarcastically. Here’s why: The answer is that I don’t have a great answer because it just hasn’t happened. I have one XX SL drivetrain with almost 1800 miles on it and it has worked flawlessly the entire time. The rest of mine have far less and one did have...

Appreciate it and I think you’re right. I have an old AXS XX just sitting in a box in my garage so I’d use that. I probably should have mentioned that to make it clear.

I built my Frameworks downhill bike with full GX AXS transmission because I wanted to be able to use it occasionally without having to drive a minimum of 4 hours. Works great overall but I don’t know of a way could limit to an ideal set of gears without just changing it back to the Saint I originally put on...

I don’t care all that much about cost or a little extra weight. I have Transmission on 10 of my MTBs (sold 1, used to be 11) and have installed it on several more for friends or other bikes I have sold. Never once had a battery issue and have never even considered batteries as a thought. It is just...

It’s not just the cassette that’s magic. Insiders at both Shimano and Sram have explained it to me like this: There’s nothing timing the first movement of the derailleur except your thumb pressing the button. The first actual chain derailment might not happen immediately however because the cassettes have been designed to very strongly encourage the shift to occur only where the gates/ramps allow it. For subsequent shifts the system estimates how long it will take until the next gate/ramp lines up with the chain, and delays the shift until that time has elapsed so that the chain engages with...

1) Worst ergonomics ever? The pod is fine... literally a button for up and down and plenty adjustable. Took me ten mins to dial in and never thought about it again. 2) Transmission clutch is great, completely silent.. old AXS quite literally known for bad clutch issues... 3) Weight is fine, cranks are a little heavy but there's other crank options (which I use). Everything else is on par with XT (derailleur heavier, cassette lighter, balances out) The pricing is frustrating which is understandably why it gets the hate. But saying the performance isn't best in class completely fried. It's...

Unpopular opinion but transmission is a clear/undeniable benefit over any existing cable stuff
