This would make perfect sense and follows current industry trends. You probably don't need a 120, 140 and 160 travel bike anymore, so have an 'MT' and an 'LT' both of which, like the ebikes, can run MX or full 29. You then have four bikes from two moulds potentially. Yeti also don't really have a history of rolling names over so expect that whatever the new bikes are they wont be SB160's/165's, SB140's etc.. Also helps retain a bit of value in any remaining inventory.

Ebikes are treated the same as normal MTB's in NZ, so you are allowed anywhere a normal bike can go.

This a common straw man argument I see on this topic. It’s important to remember that anyone capable of going that fast uphill is only do so with a lifetime of skills as a foundation . Anyone in a pro xco race is likely never putting out 1500w in that race, and if the are it’s for about 5 seconds during a sprint finish. Theres just a lot more nuance man. No human is putting out world tour sprint finish power for the same duration as a 800wh battery Humans are creatures of the path of least resistance. If you...

If we didn't overreact on the internet, does the product even exist? It's our version of "if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" 🤣

You have to remember the true target market of this bike....if you really need that much extra resistance then a Tallboy is the wrong bike for you, full stop. The forum guys wanting to run a coil shock are a niche of a niche type of mountain biker so they aren't going to design the bike with that in mind. I also don't think its that far off, and they maybe chose to ship it with that shock spec so people can easily remove the spacers if that need to. And plenty of people have run coil shocks in bikes...

Super weird that it took him that long to admit it was a mistake, and only in the comments, and still doesn't seem to have an actual number for the RMU. Someone who remembers better than I do probably knows more, but his practice of patenting something and then throwing out lawsuits at seemingly every non DW bike has been called into question.

That sounds an awful lot like they actually didn't get the leverage curve they wanted. Nothing wrong with designing a frame to work with the natural progressivity of an air shock, but if you use all the volume spacers in the air shock you spec stock, you probably would be better served with a more progressive leverage curve.

I test rode a tallboy 6 over the weekend (5mi / 600' vert). It is really, really good. I have a ht4 that I love and I love vpp for longer travel bikes. I don't miss it on the new tallboy in the slightest. It goes uphill as well as the previous version with more traction when climbing square ledges and loose over hard... and goes downhill easily 30% better then the previous version. It is half way in between the tallboy 5 and my hightower 4 with regards to descending. Honestly, it's so good and so well rounded that...

99.5% of people looking for a GT or SC would have absolutely no fucking clue what Pon is lol. GT disappeared because all they had was their heritage, and that's not enough to carry a brand indefinitely as they pumped out mostly unappealing bikes year after year. I personally don't know anyone that considered buying one in recent memory. I had a GT bmx in 2006 and really liked it, so when I got properly into mountain biking I always looked at GT. Other options were always better. I stopped looking at them years ago. If GT was successful then...

It's 185x50. I'm not a fan of trunnion in general, but historically SC tolerances are pretty good and the design seems to be executed well, so I wouldn't expect any issues there.

I'm not talking about damper architecture, Charger 2.1 vs 3.1. I'm talking about the individual tune that the bike manufacturer puts on the stock bike. The shock can have the same eye to eye and stroke dimensions + same Charger 3.1 damper, but one frame OEM uses medium compression tune, and a different frame OEM uses a light compression tune. That difference in stock tune can be more influential than leverage rate and a bunch of other factors unless the buyer/reviewer is going to do a bunch of aftermarket work. If you're talking about stock bikes with equal build spec...

Whichever bike has the best damper tune specced probably wins at that point. I'm pretty sure that's a big deciding factor between bikes with different linkage designs also though. You would need control wheels, and tires at a minimum, and probably drivetrain also to get any useful data about which frame works better.
