Based on the soundtrack for that ad they should call the adjustable shock mount '...change my pitch up...' (for the ageing Prodigy fans out there).

Oh cmon I really want to hate it because derailleurs are so 1932 but I can see why they hired Pete outta the park :D Also, is there a side effect of gearboxes rolling in, now that old school dh drivetrain costs as much as a gearbox? On another side note, check out this wild theory seeing y'all talk about mavens. (I have ridden way too many brakes from all brands about): I think people on mavens are only just about finding out that their brakes need to be well bled because these brakes actually do $h1t. I've ridden way...

RAAW addressed this issue by using modular dropouts. They first did it with their Yalla DH bike which has now trickled down to their Madonna v3.2. This is what the DH industry might head towards to accommodate UDH. Also can we take a moment to drool over how the black and silver SRAM design works with the RAAW frames 🤤

The switch to UDH has been going on for a little bit now. There are some notable exceptions like the V10 and Supreme V5 (although there's a new Supreme on the way, Jason was riding it in the review videos). Here's a few using UDH... Thanks for the follow-up @sspomer ... I watched the video and re-read the article. I'm still not entirely sure if he's making assumptions based on the changes or had this exact info told to him. -Wandering bite point and "pump out" are different phenomena. I believe (from everything I've heard, the wandering bite point/inconsistency is the bigger issue. He seems to be talking a lot about 'pump out' though. He references the new swing link and lower hydraulic pressure (from the smaller 18mm piston instead of 19mm) as 'fixing' these issues because it lets the pistons retract more easily. That...

Insane prices for questionable/marginal benefit. Not that i have a dh bike, but if there's one bike where i would want my components to be as simple, min-maxed, and beep-boop free as possible, that would be it. I can't help but think this is more of a showcase "halo" item and marketing exercise.

Can't say I've any time on Mavens, period (Wisco Pride n all) but this highlights why I never buy 1st gen anything. There's things you learn in development, then there's things you learn in the field after release. What's acceptable to the folx on payroll (lever feel/input here) may not be acceptable to the wider market. A smaller MC piston will provide a lighter touch when pushing bigger caliper pistons, but it necessitates longer throw due to fluid displacement in the system. There's no way of circumventing that because physics. So it looks like Magura has something right with the...

you might be suprised how the evo rides with some light wheels/tires. Not saying their isn’t true trail bikes that will be better. But a wheel set is cheaper and takes less space.

Respectfully, you're living your own story of distress with this post. He wants a trail bike, he categorized that as a "true trail bike" and gave some examples. If you're hung up on the semantics, that's your prerogative, but just realize that this is an agenda and distress that you are feeling and imparting on this process. Truthfully, anything not a race bike, is a trail bike. I bought what I feel is a trail bike, and that turned out to be a 150/160 bike (hightower 4)... but that's a different type of trail bike, some would call it an...

I spent a bunch of time demo'ing trail bikes over the last 6 months. A few impressions below, I'm 6'2" so a few of my impressions are driven off of that. -Tallboy is still the benchmark and nearly impossible to beat and the geometry has no surprises, nor weird steps between sizes. A platform that can punch above or below it's weight depending on the build you go for. A new one is coming, but it will be more of a nudge towards all mountain, yet still a trail bike. -I prefer the smuggler to the spur. The spur gets...
