Is replacing 8 more bearings when you already have your linkage blown apart really that big of a deal? I don’t ride a crazy amount, but I do ride a good amount, and I do not replace my bearings more than every other year. Most of the time they are still fine. Unless you’re in the top 0.1% of riders I don’t see any reason why you should be replacing bearings more than once a year. So maybe 8 more bearings to change might take another 2 hours if you’re severely bad at using tools. I spend more than 2...

Aston and Cahal have their quirks but calling them mediocre riders is complete BS. Both of those guys rip. Also 435 chainstay on a modern XL mtb is a joke IMO. Especially for a frame that costs $4k.

Their enduro team was done last year but they graciously kept me on board for this year with my contract having another year on it. Sounds obvious of course, but the bike industry isn't always so giving. The DH team took me in and I had a blast all year long, which was the main reason for doing DH at the end of the year. I just wanted to hang out with the team some more, and who wouldn't take the chance to race World Cup DH while they can. As for next year, stay tuned.

Vital article from a while back at the Chinese bike show this year. Chatted with my local shop in regards to WR1 and they aren’t doing frame replacements unless catastrophic failure. Frames are being sent to a company in Vancouver for carbon repair. Molds apparently are being sold to Sava Cycles and they will be flying the bikes under them and not WR1. Below pictured is the proto dh WR1 but now Sava will be bringing it to production in the distant future.

Hot take: we need less elites in finals (for men). I'd vote for 20 Elite Men, 15 (and eventually 20) Elite Women in Finals. Maybe not right this moment, but eventually. The current package is already a long watch, and they still don't capture entire runs of every rider. I think there is lot of potential with less racers to hone in on elevating each racers notoriety; potential to adjust the schedule to minimize track degradation and allow for safer speed increases throughout a weekend; and hopefully more money paid across the entire field.
