Found it..... "The reason facts don't change most people's opinions is because most people don't use facts to form their opinions. They use their opinions to form their 'facts'." — Wayne Gretzky probably

@sethimus @Evil96 @CascadeComponents I love, like love-love, that someone with an engineering background (and seemingly a degree) and a wealth of manufacturing experience provided factual mathematical evidence, and it has been refuted by "I believe the manufacturer of this shiny new thing I bought", like conformation bias doesnt exist or something.... There's a quote about facts and opinions that I'm trying to remember here...... it'll come to me....

My suggestion after mucking around with my own setup is ride the current one for a little while at least, then when you can articulate what exactly you need on the new one but the current one cannot handle, or you're chasing a certain feel that would be better served by one of the more boutique suspension makers - that...

I'm 6'7", and I'm so excited by the potential. All I'd say is that if you aren't interested in these wheels, don't use them. But please don't ruin it for me. It's ok if not every product is for you... lord knows 99% of bikes don't fit me, and I still enjoy learning about them.

Having worked with pro road, cx teams, and national road, cx, mtb teams, I can say that commissaries have always viewed as having an exemption from other UCI rules, not a whole different set. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they changed more rules like wheels size, wheelbase, course design rules etc etc etc. It get philosophical, but the constraints of sport are a part of what makes sport so enduring. Keeping up with tech, but retaining the competition, and the connection to the last matters. There’s a trade of between allowing whatever optimises the performance of the athlete...

I agree with you it's how many sports are regulated, but I also hope that isn't where downhill & xc are headed yet. Imagine if we were all still on 26 wheels with a 410mm size L reach with quick release wheels because that was the regulation from 20 years ago. Obviously there is a line, but I hope the...

100% this. Think about how heavily regulated baseball bats, golf clubs, and tennis rackets are at the elite level. Do you remember when Tom Brady was accused of playing with under-inflated footballs? Almost every sport that relies on equipment has very strict rules about that equipment to create a more level playing field. There's no such thing as a truly level playing field, of course, but deliberately making it less level from the top-down is typically viewed as a negative in sports. And while arguing about rules seems off-topic here, I think it's extremely on-topic, because the regulatory landscape of...

Sounds more like tall riders are at a disadvantage riding wheels too small for them..

Ever watched any sport ever? How they are full of people born with qualities that make them especially good at their sport? You think the top pros don’t have a better baseline than your neighbor? Sports have ALWAYS rewarded athletes who have natural predisposition for their sport. Look at the inverse, sports that favor smaller riders. Hell, talk to a 6’5” downhill rider and ask them if a 5’5” guy has an advantage…

How big of a disadvantage is being taller on the air resistance front? And how much of an advantage being smaller brings here? If we're banning wheel sizes, why not also ban frame sizes?

I cannot believe how inane the convo around 32 is. Please, people: you are saying the exact same things they said about 29.

I have a different opinion. As long as it's a bike with 2 wheels and human power output, I say anything flies. Don't level the playing field. Let it be raw. If the winning combo is sitting in between 60 inch wheels then let that be. Maybe there will be an advantage we don't know yet to shorter people vs...
