Ed just posted an update on his future on IG.  Basically doing same shit with the exception of racing full time it sounds

Was this a story? Is it still possible to get a screenshot of what he said or wrote? Thanks, from the non-socialmedia crew.

fwiw, last year was the first year we ever had to pay to get lawlor his creds at a world cup. $3k for the races we attended. it's not a budget killer for us, but $3k goes along way on other projects for us.

this I did hear from a few privateer teams and non paddock partner brands/editorial

The UCI team fees cover media rights for the 20-25 teams, and rhey have access to an additional additional content pool of WBD stuff

if not in that group your team/brand has to pay for media rights. there is no fee for photography, just video. And what breaks down to essentially $300/round seems reasonable

Still not sure how anyone's lost their job or coverage has been restricted.  other rhan there no longer being 50 kids with video cameras in the finish corral shooting for kicks

World Cup is a high level sport and access to it is restricted.  far less so than something like supercross that's for sure, where I've worked for brands that were told it was $1500/round to shoot photos for ad campaign content

I wonder if that makes sponsoring a team that much more affordable? Vital could have that advertisement on an existing team and get one of that teams photographer slots. More than 3k but it comes with added bdnefits

In the big picture of content for brands $3k or $300/round is couch change.

The first bike that came to mind was a Haro... looks like a Greer Alloy or a Daley Alloy... wild guess though

That would be dubious. I feel like Haro is gonna go the same way as GT. Simek got dropped anyway, unless it was an option. If I had to guess, as I did a while ago... It's Trek to be with his bro Kade. They're quite close.

Speaking of Frameworks....

Gwin is sponsored by Renen and the rest of the team sponsored by Fox. I thought UCI required teams to now run the same kits on race day... so how does that work? Will the kits look identical but with Renen/Fox logos being the only difference?

Remy Morton off Red Bull? Just posted a sick, but normal pinstriped TLD helmet rather than a RB helmet with the caption “Moving forward”. RB not listed in his IG bio.

There is no such rule. I think the regulations just ask teams to submit a graphic of their kit design.

Most teams have custom kit at each race anyway and quite a few do different race kit for males vs. females at some races.

So can't see any issues for Gwin or Frameworks. Especially as Gwin raced in Thor kit last year while his teammates were in renen I think?

Fairclough announced that he's off Fox, remember when he was on DVO and ran brushes between the stanchions to keep the spray down on the USD fork!

Looks like he lost his section on the RB website so I guess so. Damn red bull is going crazy this year, laurie lost his RB lid too.

When was Brendan on DVO? Either I forgot or I never knew that. Thanks.

I think it's safe to say that Red bull are prioritising athletes that make content. Laurie and Remy have been pretty quiet over the last few years, despite being amazing riders. Whereas Matt Jones keeps his because he is constantly making content for them

I can see that that argument with Laurie, but Remy consistently puts out some of the most stylish edits on some of the most beautifully crafted jump trails in existence.

Remy is my favorite rider by far and I want him to get every ounce of support he can. That being said, his partnership with RedBull always seemed outside the norm for me. Remy is a pure style rider and RedBull historically goes for the top competitors or elite limit pushers.

I always wondered if he was their first attempt to broaden horizons some. Anyway, I hope it was mutual and not Remy getting the rug pulled out from under him.

On a semi-related note, I find it weird that RedBull never gives a farewell to any leaving athlete. It also seems like they encourage the leaving athlete to stay quiet. You only ever know they are off when they show up without a branded helmet. Its odd.

I'm now anticipating content from Remi that is more Remi, less RB, which won't be a bad thing. Aside from sponsorships ending for reasons that any brand would have to sever ties for, I like to think anyone that leaves RB is pursuing a less restricted way to enjoy their sport and impact their world.

Pretty interesting to case study big changes in other industries, like Tiger Woods and the cheating scandal. Some sponsors jumped ship immediately, others stayed because the action didn't explicitly go against their brand values. All companies have a different MO when it comes to athletes going above and beyond their contracted commitments...some have a hard line to draw, some are more willing to be associated with non-sport things. Deegan's a giant problematic asshole and should've had 5 black flags in his career so far, but Fox went ahead and paid him millions for a clothing contract. Blanking on the brand and rider, but there was a female enduro rider that went from factory to privateer overnight allegedly because of something to do with the Israel/Gaza conflict. Impossible to say but always interesting to dig into as it sheds light on a brand's ethos

Just had a mitzvah (great thing or deed),she and Avi had a little girl. Hoping she is also on the Courdier track and will wind up doing the different trans- races as enduro events if WB eliminates enduro all together from their program.

it’d be nice to find someone that wanted a hole in the dirt to throw money at and produce a trans- race league where there was actually a division for pros to race, but still be with the people. I remember a time in paintball where amateur teams went up against the pros for a couple of games at events as well. Off soapbox, apologies if a derailment.

Just on the Israel/Gaza comment, if I recall correctly Noga had her contract terminated about 6 monts prior to the start of that conflict. So safe to assume there was no relation. I imagine a contract issue or infringement we are not aware of?

Whatever it was, she must've said or done something untenable in GT's eyes to get dropped mid contract like that.

If you ever rode bikes, that were in mountains, or woods, and jumped a lot, or made curvey turns and felt good riding said bikes in said mountains or woods, until dark, at any point in your life: brage. Get that trek deal and get that money and get those bontrager wheels popping and JUST KEEP SMASHING.

Yeah. We like brage. And Sam Hill. GTFO.

Matt Jones is a smart guy. He's beyond just being a rider with a Redbull helmet and established himself as a personality they can use across other sports. He made himself valuable, whereas Remi and Laurie, although sick riders, didn't do that. Unless you're Jackson Goldstone or Gracey level racing, I think you need to do more for the brand to be kept around.
