Marleens (NZ DT agent) even without Nic onboard now, have always been pretty onto it with marketing and product support.
I have to say I'm surprised noideamtber hasn't killed that ARC30, worst rim I've every had... even weaker than the 1st gen Stans Barron rim.
Second this. Dented one so bad it wouldn't hold air, but somehow the tire survived? Got a new wheel built with the same rim, did the same thing the very next day, again the tire survived. Every other wheel I've owned would flat the tire long before denting, even with a DH casing.
The annoying thing about mountain biking is that there's such a huge difference in abilities, and those differences mean that high performance bikes are heavier while prebuilt/cheaper bikes are lighter because it's "higher performance" even though it isn't. It affects rims more than anything else I reckon. Products that we'd destroy in one run can last for years under 90% of riders because 90% of people trundle down blue trails. And it means things like Treks, or anything with ARC30s, etc are totally unfit for purpose out of the box.
Very different from something like motocross, where out of the box, the bikes don't perform well but they last a lot longer than one lap. Or skiing, where it's way more common to build a setup with boots/bindings/skis that actually suits you rather than buying a locked-in collection of parts.
Are you sure you're not talking about the cheese AR30? Those are awful rims.
the ARC30 Is quite good, Im not a light weight and it got thrashed over summer at QT skyline and CAP.(+ other places) - i was not kind to it, its killed many tyres
Wheelworks has a really good rundown of the DT alloy rim differences including the new FR571...

This has been my exact experience. Conti DH tire survived both times. They were in wildly different conditions too. One was the flat rocky bottom part of the Snowshoe WC track (aka not very high speed) and the other dent happened on a flow trail in the mud (again not going fast whatsoever). Wasn’t on a drop or feature, just basic rocks in the trail.
Just rented the Polygon Colossus DH in Morzine and it had these rims. Flatted the tubes in the rear twice but the rims were ok. (one literally right before mainline 10%) I tend to go a bit easier on rentals though.
I want to like DT because my XM481s take an absolute beating on my trail bike and have dents all over them still holding air no problem. Great all mountain rims.
This is beautiful, and such a contrast to DTs shitty website.
mitch ropo on a proto cannondale DH-frame ? looks very proto-ish
It’s a blacked out Frameworks
Average VitalMTBer as described by pinkishbike https://www.instagram.com/p/DM0qNx0xHwl
I wonder what the bike was.
DOH!!!
You are correct.
My bad. 🤡
I owned a few ARC30 and they're not terrible but both died pretty quickly.
Just curious when you owned them? They updated them a couple of years back
my two are great, one has a touch of a flat spot from the bottom of the slab drop at skyline when I was far to low on pressure due to burping it higher up
Those aforementioned offset options were used in pre boost forks with 20mm axle options, after that this tuning no longer works.
Transition were one brand I can name that was using them on 27.5" bikes until recently which were all boost forks.
Yes, you could chose from two offsets for 27.5 boost fork, on non boost there were 3 options that were interchangable.
Orbea updated the Occam and Occam LT to include cable ports.

This is so funny to read if you haven’t been paying attention to headset routing the last couple years.
Imagine reading “Ford updated the F150 to include power windows”
Pretty sure you can still buy several base ford models with roll up windows actually.
I heavily considered: Orbea “downgraded” the Occam to include internal cable routing.
Feels like we're winning this battle, team. Nice work complaining enough to move the needle.
I’d like to think it was us. It was probably paying out the extra shop labor on warranty jobs that did it.
They pay shops for labor on warranty work?
Who else would pay for it?
that was a funny one, are you a comedian?
All of the big brands in the UK give credit for any labour associated with warranty work!
That kind of news, it just makes your day.
If i was trying to gain 2W on a trail bike I ride in baggy clothes, I'd rather wear aero socks than run cables and hoses through the headset !
yeah, na. so for example, cube ebike, didn’t mount the dropper cable correctly, to fix it you need to drop the motor, remove the battery and deal with cable tourism. at least a 1-2h job. they reimburse you 15eur for that. but our billable hour is 129 chf.
Same with my haibike, it doesn't have tube in tube for the rear either so a job that would be max 15 minutes with external routing turns into an hour to two hours.
