…not sure if this has been discussed yet but PB recently visited the Taipei Show and it was mentioned that 4 WC Crosscountry teams are currenty testing 32“ wheels. I also heard from a friend that „apparently“ Nino Schurter and his reammate won this year‘s Cape Epic on bigger wheels..any truth to this? The Maxxis Aspen was shown in Taipei and is Nino‘s favourite tyre..interesting!

Us bike nerds notice when there's a new color bolt on a stem. Someone definitely would have noticed Nino and Filippo winning Cape Epic on 32" wheels. They are easy to spot.

because cues replaced 3 groupsets. Low level cues isnt great. XT is good.

I think we’re more likely to see a lighter Linkglide cassette than anything wireless with less than 12 gears

Ah yes, those were 32” tires in disguise in that photo. Just remove the size marks and no one will notice!

Those guys at Maxxis sure are clever 🤣

Well at least they had to develop 32"-specific sharpies...

And without opening the article, I am sure Yamaha did not buy Brose. If anything, the ebike division/segment/technology.

Brose is a multi billion dollar company, a tier 1 supplier of the biggest automotive brands for all aspects of building a car, interior, exterior, powertrain, you name it.

Fun fact, the owner/heir/whatever is the guy who ordered the new Lancia Stratos made from a cut up Ferrari F430 and had a production run of 20 units planned until Ferrari said no to cutting up their cars.

That's the playing field of Brose. And I bet 90 % of people pronounce the name of the company wrong. Hint, it's not Bros 😉

Noideamtber is correct. Also cues is cheap and existing technology, it's not exactly a new design, just a new product to streamline the SKU's.

There is no way they're investing all the money to go backwards and offer an expensive wireless drivetrain, with a cassette that isn't even hyperglide+ standard,

I've been a bit anti 12 speed and anti-electronic shifting for some time. Not because I'm an old man screaming at the clouds but because I bought them and used them for 2 years and frankly found them heavy and to not really do anything better.

However, at least for my e-bikes, I think I'll go with the new Transmission 90 (or whatever it's called) with the GX cassette on my next full power e-bike. I'll stick to 11 speeds on my pedal bikes though.

I still think e-bikes need wide ratio 11 speed cassettes from about 10-48, but I don't get to decide.

Shimano Deore 11sp is 11-51T, dirt cheap, and pretty bomb proof. (although all Shimano derailleurs should be beefier imo) Run it on my park bike and enduro bike with no problems. I’m tempted by the mechanical Transmission but if Shimano does a wireless Deore 11sp derailleur/shifter I’m all over it.

Hate to break it to you, but they're never going to go backwards and do wireless 11sp. It's 12sp all the way from here on out

Wireless 11sp already exists in the linkglide category.

The fork and especially the shock are surprisingly hot. I know they heat up but that much is crazy. I def need a heat sync! Next trend....

Coil shocks run at upto 55°c during DH runs, airshocks can run quite a bit hotter depending on the design.

Dyno testing shocks you should run a warm up cycle to heat the shock to at least 40°c before measuring the damping as that's close to operating temperature.

Air shocks aside, the temp of the shock doesn’t really tell you anything if you don’t know the tune and what it has just done. It’s a simple conservation of energy equation. The heat generated by the damper is the work it has done to absorb impacts.

Not true. It is electronic but wired for ebike use only

True. Do you know if design processes prioritize heat dissipation for suspension like how brakes do? I remember DVO used to advertise that their shocks had their little “cooling fins”. For all I know they did work. But Im a skeptic. But at the same time, Ive never seen another company promote that really.

I’m admittedly a Special Ed hater. Hard to hate on that… Well done Specialized.

Looks like the 115Nm rumored motor was close.

I am very surprised it’s still a 210x55

It doesn’t seem that any of them are trying to chase down heat sinks. Overheating shocks would have to be an issue first and it doesn’t really seem to be.

It’s really odd and with it being 180mm compatible, new link and yokekiller for a longer a shock ?

I remember a few years back some of the WC teams were putting temperature sensing stickers on their air cans. Haven't seen one since then so assumed that it's not something they care about anymore (or it wasn't useful)...

The DVO Jade with the cooling fins was only one shock I was able to sense lacking of rebound after a long harsh descent.

Note the battery placement on the NEO Transfer seatpost. Saw a Pivot with one while riding in AZ recently.
