Anywho, finally some proper bar dimensioning being put forward. Dealing with the topic, I think it's essential as current values tell nothing meaningful (qed, a bar 55 mm high from clamp to grips comes out to essentially 35 mm rise in the real world). If you look at Renthal's fatbars, MTB versions have the same vague dimensioning problem but on the moto side EVERYTHING is laid out in detail. You can exactly see where your grips will be in relation to the clamps from the schematic. Considering how much talk is thrown around reach (and stack) values and changing stem lengths, mentioning the setback when it comes to handlebars is step number the one. Step two should be the actual height of the grips (hands) versus clamping axis.
The Renthal site was really helpful when I was trying to find a new bar for my dirt bike. Kinda crazy they don't do the same thing for MTB.

It's not about me not valuing my safety, but rather about the cost of stuff. So many helmets that go on sale on a regular basis, there's no way I'm spending $240 on any helmet (maybe a full face?). When I find something that fits properly, I'll wait until it goes on sale. For example, POC has 40-50% off sales on a regular basis. Why would I pay full price?

When I find something that fits properly, I'll wait until it goes on sale. For example, POC has 40-50% off sales on a regular basis. Why would I pay full price?
The cost of many helmets has become quite high, looking at the new Forefront 3 and Fox Speedframe RS (both over $300 CAD). My biggest qualm with new helmets is the lack of a built-in spot to mount a helmet light. I have the Forefront 2 that needs replacing, but I am struggling to find something with this feature. I love the look of the new non-RS Fox Speedframe (and its safety rating), but I emailed asking if they made an in-house light mount, and they directed me to a Blackburn gift guide. At least most new helmets come with a glasses storage solution, which I can get behind.
I do wonder about the difference in safety between the independently conducted Virginia tests versus taking Smith's word. I think it was mentioned a couple of pages back that you only need to send in 5 helmets to get them tested?

They might do a limited run but in Vancouver Canada anything with a bit of flare seems to go way over priced thanks to scalpers.. someone had Jackson goldstone sign their bike (stock nomad) and are trying to get $15,000 CAD for it.. I couldn’t see sram charging more for this kit than the other ultimate mavens Ltd they released

Agreed, what's wrong with the ubiquitous GoPro mount? They're cheaper, smaller, lighter, and more stable than the integrated options that Smith and Bell used to offer.

I've noticed the same thing. The last helmet I had with a dedicated light/camera mount was a Bell Sixer, and that's been several years. On my last couple helmets, I put a GoPro mount on the under side of the visor for an Outbound Hangover light. I believe the reason helmet companies no longer do manufacturer-made mounts on the top of helmets is safety/liability. Adding something to the top of the helmet can drastically change its safety performance, and I bet the legal team said no more.
BTW I just use a glue on go pro mount and attach whatever light I want.
Not a dig at Vital but more at stem makers, since so much emphasis there is on the look of the stem (we do look at them a lot during climbing), please list the length that is pictured. The 60mm is kinda obvious but sometime the look of the 50 and 40mm option varies greatly and can be hard to spot which is which in press photo without captions.

Anyone ridden and Esker? I wasn't a fan of their (or anyone's) swoopy carbon frames, but IIRC the handful of reviews I saw were generally favorable. The new frames are available in either Ti or aluminum. Geo looks good. Pricing is reasonable.
