Having just been shopping them, I find Santa Cruz' model and kit combos confusing and cryptic, such as the: "Santa Cruz Blur 4 C R TR" or "Santa Cruz Hightower 4 CC XO AXS RSV" 😆. I'm a big enough dork to know what all that means, but still. I'd be down if brands went back to simply naming models based on groupset, or one additional descriptor at most. Names have definitely gotten longer as brands have had to differentiate between two generations of a model coexisting in their lineups simultaneously with the post-Covid oversupply (See "Stumpjumper 15" or Slash Gen 6").

Code numbers and spec jargon in the product title. This is essentially the car audio industry for as long as I can remember.

I’ll take numbers and letters that correspond to anything over “Comp, Expert, Elite, and Pro”

What’s more better, Elite or Expert? 😂

I don't often run Manitou, but when I do, the seals and stanchions run noticeably cleaner than forks with the arch at the front. For both mud and dust.

Wouldn't surprise me if having more airflow around the seal and lower part of the exposed stanchion is actually a small improvement.

It's because most of the dirt is flung from behind by the spinning front tire and the reverse arch blocks the seals from that.

That and I think not having dust mill around behind a forward arch. More of it just gets blown away by the airflow.

Sounds like a spec of the rear hub in that context.

Yeah I think that’s the max torque the hub can withstand, the new motor looks like it’s up 5nm to 90 though.

There's gonna be a 70 anbd 90. 70 Similar to NX though if they're willing to put the transmission tagline on it I would hope it's higher quality than NX. 90 I'm betting will use GX Transmission cassette, and have a similar build quality overall to GX mechanical.

Maybe the cheap cassette is all steel, heavy & more robust. Perfect for e-bikes. (not that e-bikes need a 12 speed but that's another topic)

Then the bikes can go with the lighter X01 Transmission cassette (and chain) with the new cabled derailleur which will be lighter than any electronic derailleur, and depending on your tastes, shift better too.

Has anyone seen anything of the Porsche E-Bikes yet? I got passed by an E-Bike the other day and at first thought that maybe the person had put a big Porsche sticker on their bike as a joke but at second glance it was actually graphics and the whole bike looked extremely polished, different to any other E-Bike I know of and was kitted out with all sorts of bling parts. Sadly they were too fast to interrogate them or snap a pic but it would seem that Porsche might be pretty close to unveiling something given how 'production quality' the whole bike looked. It had PORSCHE prominently written on the top tube of the bike, horizontal shock layout underneath the top tube (Porsche's current hybrid style E-Bikes have horizontal shocks) with either a Vorsprung or Push shock (reservoir and body was all silver/raw), the motor wasn't particularly quiet and sounded like most other E-Bikes, and the rider looked kitted out like someone that takes riding very seriously... So could have passed as a 'professional test rider' 🤣

Not the most exciting rumor without a pic or anything (and E-Bike related on top of that) but wondering if anyone has seen/heard something yet from Porsche?

Yah, because Porsche owns Fazua, they are releasing a line of e-bikes. Apparently full power.

Same.

Not even on my e-bike. If it was hardwired and had like a 10 speed wide ratio with an all steel cassette, I could live with it on an e-bike though.

Shimano has the right cassettes, but the hard wire part would probably only work with a Shimano motor if they release their new DI2 with the capability to work with Linkglide.

Yeah this did not seem like a Fazua bike, motor was bigger and bike looked like a full power bike so this must be from their own offering. Yeah, I meant a current Fazua motor system. So maybe Fazua built a full power offering for them or they built their own but it was definitely something different then what currently is out there.

I used to like loud-ish hubs, but not I9 loud… Admittedly been on Onyx hubs for a couple years. Can’t deal with excessively loud hubs anymore.

Maybe it'll drop at the same time as the range extender for the ride60 so it won't ever actually get released.

The best emulsion wax lube to use with the RotaLuber is Silca Super Secret.  It's necessary to keep the bottle sealed with the cap between usages because the emulsifier will evaporate leaving just the wax.  Also, we recommend rinsing out the passage ways of the tool with hot water and if possible blowing it out with compressed air.  Yes, this is an extra step in the chain lubing process but when your using a wax lube the frequency of applications are a lot less.

Re: new Fox w/holes in arches:

I’ve cleaned A LOT of mountain bikes. I’ve found that forks usually have two states of covered-in-crap: 1) still covered-in-crap (dust, mud, clay, whatever) from the last ride and hasn’t been cleaned yet, or 2) “cleaned”, i.e. garden sprayer or bike wash station at the trail center. Some of us take our time and are careful, some not so much. In both scenarios, crap inevitably remains in a crappy little pile, stuck right between the arch and the slider, and whichever category you fall into, it’s not easy getting it out of there. Gentle pressure from the hose, pointed across the top of the dust wiper? Run a rag through there? *shudder

These fancy holes look to me like you could garden hose from the front, and take the crap out of Crapsville.

OneUp releasing a revised contact plate for their new Clip Pedal. On the one hand, good on them for addressing an issue quickly. On the other hand... really seems like something that should have been caught before the product launch.

I am one of the lucky ones whose pedals are misbehaving. I tried two different pairs of shoes, and in both cases, dirt buildup through the ride results in no release. We'll see how the update performs....I hope it works, because other than the small issue of being locked in, I like the pedals.

just to sort this quickly: Fazua was bought by porsche, the whole company now is porsche e-bike performance, so its not who built it for which company, but they built it for them Wink that beeing said, the current ride 60 etc. are still released under the fazua branding
