Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
The weightweenies thread that was linked earlier with the XTR Di2 is now updated with the new XTR brakes as well. Looks nice

The Session rocker has a pinch bolt to clamp down on the axle in order to provide some more torsional stiffness. The rocker is just 2 separate plates with no bridge in between them. Without the pinch bolt the two plates would likely be able to rotate one against another (and possibly untighten the bolt too).
As for the antisquat and antirise changing with changing pivot location, antisquat yes, antirise probably not that much as it's a split pivot.
There's a home page?
not gonna start a brake discussion, but i think it’s interesting that lachie is also riding centerline rotors with mavens, same as vali hoell.
Current Gen XTR/XT/SLX all have a 10-45 Hyperglide+ 12 speed cassette option since their launch. It's also the same cassette that are used for current mechanical GRX 12 speed 1x with medium cage derailleur.
I am wandering how pointy the bite is going to be.
Because the Mavens are very powerful and the Centreline rotors take some of that bite away.
Great to have this option
Only a vertical wall climb requires a 51t on an e bike. And on my hardtail, which mostly just is used for shorter trail rides, I run a 11-42 and rarely use the 42. Some of us would rather a tight spread than wide range
BITD I ran a 11-32 with a 34 up front and never had any issues. Kids these days 🤔
Just noticed that Bulldog’s jersey has a huge DJI sponsor front and center. Could it mean an Ari eeb with a DJI motor at some point? After all, I don’t think he’ll be riding the new Forbidden DJI bike.
Could be, but he could also be using DJI action cameras, they make a pretty good gopro style camera.
Saw the new upcoming turbo levo out in the trail today. Passed by me so just enough visual to know it was a turbo levo and with no upper crossbar by the shock. Can’t say much else or specialized might take my post down
Does anyone have a date for a shimano release? Rumours last year from Shimano Rep was feb but not sure now?
I'm glad you're here. I barely need to post. You keep writing exactly what I am about to.
As I say to everybody with a view like yours, come to Slovenia. We have a few climbs here where it's likely you'll be wishing for a 28t ring up front to replace the 30t on your bike to pair up with that wide range, 50+ tooth cassette out back.
There are some people that can push insane gear ratios everywhere, but they are far an in between. There are different terrains around the world requiring different approaches. But overall, for most people, wide range cassettes are a benefit, not a negative. Having more options is great, but catering to a small percentage (a loud percentage, but still small) is something few companies will do...
The new Classified 10-40 cassette gives you 570 range I think ;-)
Says 530 % on their site. Looks like you get an effectively 10-53T cassette with very fine gear jumps and quite a bit more complexity (parts, shifting methods, etc.).
I would love a Classified system (and is an option where I would like electronic shifting) if the cassette was 6spd 10-14-18-24-32-44 with a Classified-esque system filling in the gaps. So not to offset the whole cassette, but to actually use each cog of the cassette for 2 gears. And do it via a single remote.
That's where they need to go for wide spread acceptance. If they can reduce the largest cog and go with a short derailleur cage, all the better.
damn you’re so cool, can we hang out and can i call you my friend?
I would guess its not so much of a "flip chip" rather then different slugs that can be used to to fine tune position.Something like the photo below.

Technically any slug that is not centred is also a flip chip 🙂
Classified hubs? Nah.
I am testing one on a road bike, even in that application the extra weight on the rear wheel throws off handling enough for me to not be interested in the product. Adding all that extra mass at your rear axle? No thanks.
Is it safe to say that you thought you saw a Levo SL but then realized it looked like a higher-calorie version of an SL?
The rightmost one in the image turns your Trek into a Yeti.
Instead of the Classified system, we need to ressurect the Hammerschmidt. Refine that system, get it lighter, 2x instead of 1.6x overdrive, and now you can run a DH rear cassette-shifter on your enduro bike.
I had that idea too some month ago to use the Hammerschmidt and a GX DH on my enduro bike but the gears were overlaping. And the Range wasn‘t that Great. But I would buy a Hammerschmidt with 1:2.
Not quite a Hammerschmidt but: https://bikerumor.com/sram-wireless-axs-front-derailleur-built-inside-chainrings/
Bike tech is a circular cycle. You know what else is a circular cycle? Crab.
I take it you don't have or ride very steep long climbs around your area. I'm currently running a rear 52T cog with a front 22T chainring. I'd love a 60T cog so I could run a bigger chainring.
I call BS, who even sells 22t chainrings? And how many chains do you get through???
There's actually lot's of 22t chainrings out there.
