Wheeltop's G(supertinymisplaced)e X is to SRAM AXS GX as Transmorphers is to Transformers, or Chop Kick Panda to Kung Fu Panda.

Who do they think they'll fool with that branding?

Knockoff how exactly? Because it has 2 chain pulley wheels? Because it has a lower cage that extends and takes up chain slack and is spring loaded and clutch damped? Because it makes the chain go up and down the cassette? Because it attaches to a rear derailleur hanger?

This has to be one of the weakest "It's just a cheap Chinese knockoff" accusations I have ever seen. About the only thing it shares with SRAM is it's wireless, and so when Shimano finally steps up to the plate in 2025 with their true 100% wireless rear derailleur, I guess they'll be "Cheap Japanese knockoffs"....

You’re missing the point.

It’s only knockoff if it comes from China.

Anyone else can pull this shit and no-one would bat an eyelid. No. One.

No I’m not going to buy one of their ders, but it is hilarious how publicly quick to offence some people get.

Genuinely looking forward to see how it fares in the review though.

Curious to why Madrone and Hopp are allowed to get away with what they’re doing!

The GeX is a gravel derailleur. The MTB one is OX. You guys even look at the WheelTop web page? I could have tried it if I had a bike to put it on but I haven't..

So China still has a way to go before it regains the west's trust and respect vis-a-vis its own historical lack of respect for the west's intellectual property.  That "Landwind" Range Rover Evoque knock-off was still on the market only five years ago, after all.

However, China has really stolen a march on the rest of the world with its EV technology, so there's no question about their capabilities.

You can't make this shit up. This is what happens when the offenders are state sponsored. The ones policing them are the ones funding.

Yeah, for me its the name and branding. You call its something else and no one makes knockoff accusations. They want people to mistake them for one another, and that's where it crosses the line.

Madrone? The company that offers tools and individual parts unavailable anywhere else to repair/rebuild SRAM derailleurs? And then developed their own derailleur that is functionally and aesthetically distinct from SRAM's product's? That's a really weak comparison.

Exactly.

If Madrone was making the Transmassion AXiS derailleur, they'd be getting called out too.

You can rip on their English translation skills all you want, but I'll wager it's a helluvalot better than your Mandarin.

Their derailleur architecture looks more aligned to Sunrace's RDM series, just with a battery pack and servo rather than a pulley and housing stop.

Less about the translation than the content itself. Lots of words to say very little about who this company is.

I am waiting for someone to have the ballz to place the battery on stays instead of mounting it on the RD body.

Really wish Di2 mounting in the front triangle would have caught on. Makes total sense now that most frames have frame storage and being able to run the derailleur off the big battery on ebikes.

I'd appreciate a hybrid system wherein the battery was held inside the fame somewhere and a power cable ran through the stay to the derailleur and everything else was wireless, but figuring out all the correct lengths of e-tubes you needed to wire the shifter, battery, derailleur(s) all to the DI2 hub thing was a pain in the ass on aftermarket setups.

This is the direction Archer should have taken. Electric shifting ease, mech shifting replacement costs, and everything tucked outta sight. I am still hoping someone with the pockets picks up the IP and improves on that system.

Totally, but that can be a bit of a cultural thing as pride/boastfulness is a real rude character trait to have in China.

Since we’re talking about Chinese knockoffs the Risk knock off cable routing kit from Ali Express (even found one on Amazon) for $15 was the best tool purchase ever. Since they're that cheap to produce I think they should just be included in the goodie bag that comes with framesets.

Reminds me of the side hustle people used to push about being a translator for non-English speaking companies looking to make a footprint in the US.

Maybe I need to learn traditional and Mandarin.

Since we’re talking about Chinese knockoffs the Risk knock off cable routing kit from Ali Express (even found one on Amazon) for $15 was the best tool purchase ever. Since they're that cheap to produce I think they should just be included in the goodie bag that comes with framesets.

+1 got it on Ali for under $5 and using it was sublime after never having an internal routing tool

I'm gonna get downvoted but I actually kinda enjoy internal cable routing with that tool. You get some creative problem solving that isn't frustratingly impossible. It also works great for running speaker wire behind your wall, not that you'll need speakers in your shop since you won't be failing at internal routing for hours anymore.
