Looks similar to the the NAILD R3act suspension once used by Polygon and Marin.

If you zoom in on the first shared image of the Ibis, you can still see that there is one of the bottom DW Links Ibis makes. Top rocker link is harder to make out the exact shape but it seems to be a simple in design bike.

A shame the dropper post insertion depth seems to be similar to the AM150. Guessing the the AM170 will also be the same. Less than 200mm dropper is a dealbreaker for many of us nowdays (come on sram axs!)

Since the mullet bikes seem to be a thing that some are trying to make happen... When will they stop trying to adapt an existing model and just go from the ground up with something designed around the mixed wheel size?

aside from foes or mullet bikes (the brand) or any other niche company, i can't imagine most big brands would make a specific mixed-wheel bike. new pivot switchblade has it considered in the design w/ adjustability, but it's still "adapting" an existing bike, eh? https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Pivot/Switchblade-Pro-XT…

spec'ing a mixed bike in large scale seems like a PIA for brand managers or OEM orders w/ sku's and wheel/tire size options.

wonder how many more (or less) we'll see on race day in lousa this year.

Accidentally found myself on the first page of the thread, and was amused by how well this comment aged 🥲

I don't know why I'm only realizing this now but this would be a great platform for an ebike (super easy to adapt to the motor).
Is it only me, or is this frame having a really steep seattube angle (an enduro-worthy steep)?
If yes, how wild would it be to short-shock it and make it Dreadnought's bigger brother with around 170-180mm of travel? Smile
Just checked their website. Interesting detail on their posting of this video: wheels are stated as 12x148 and 15x110.
Is the new Boxxer going to 15x110 Boost standard???

I was wondering if this bike might be pedal-able as well, and it'd be pretty cool if it was. With the revised suspension layout and modular dropouts, it's hard not to draw the comparison to Norco's DH team racing the Range in DH guise. There's even the chance it could be the next gen dreadnought hiding in plain sight....

Being a smaller scale brand, it might make sense for them to spec 148 hubs, so that they can simplify their own parts orders for their complete builds. I'm fairly sure the current gen Demo uses standard boost hubs as well.

Hunt Proven carbon wheels have been added to their website with pricing and full specs. I would imagine an official launch soon. Basically an Enduro wheelset with 'tuned' carbon rims, and an XC model both with lifetime warranty and sub £900 price.

Depends what you buy carbon for I suppose. Looking at the impact data on the product page they arent' far from Reserve (which are 1800g) but cost a whole lot less

Oh Ma gErD tHaT nEw IBIS LOGO iS sO iNSpiRiNg!!!!!!!!!!!

"Our new visual identity pays homage to that hand-crafted past, while looking forward. The new Ibis bird projects strength as it takes flight, while the arced beak is reminiscent of the care we take with the surfaces in our designs.

We also implemented an uppercase IBIS to remind people visually that our company is no longer the soft “i” of interesting, but a proud and strong “I” that embodies the spirit of us as humans. These visuals are better adapted to the complex surfacing of our frames. They look stable and modern, like our bikes. "

Might aswell buy aluminium wheels at that point with those weights

And please don't talk about lifetime warranty, a good dtswiss rim is around 70 bucks, Even if you manage to wreck 5 rims in few years which is unlikely you are still on a better position in terms of pricing

Man I wish they were that cheap in Canada. An EX511 goes for $206 CAD, and a lot of people demo rims like this pretty frequently where I live. Add in the cost of wheel builds and spokes for the average rider who doesn't have the knowledge and tooling to rebuild a wheel, and those NQA carbon hoops start to look real good.

After a few years of mid season wheel builds, I made the jump to LG1 Carbon Race rims, and am so far very glad I did.

Yah, people come into the shop all summer and ask about replacing a rim. Once they regain consciousness, they start looking at full wheels or learning how to build their own.

I have some wheels being built up. I supplied the rims and hubs. I decided on using CXRays and the total came out to $598!!! I really need to learn to build wheels...

I don't know what's going on with that seat tube (is it offset to the side??) but aside from that I love it. It's a big new step for Ibis in terms of design, which they're obviously going for with the rebranding. Hope it rides well, and the suspension seems promising if it feels anything like the DHR.

Unpopular opinion: I hate the fact that Ibis sold out and makes an e-bike now, but the design is actually not all that bad. Looks rather decent. Has a certain coherence to its lines, which is absent from almost all other e-bikes.
