27.5 and 29 uses the same lowers with a different axle height, both of them will have the option imo

That's probably not a thing. I looked through RS official parts catalogue and there's no mention anywhere of a 200mm air shaft for a Zeb.

I think you could put 200mm airshaft in 29, and add 10mm spacers (both sides) if the arch is getting too close. I've done similar before.

Anyone notice the green light on the left side of Loic Burni’s handlebars during his insane world champs run??? His suspension looked slightly stiffer then what his normal soft set up is. It was still soft compared to other riders.. But seemed firmer then what Loic has ran in the past. I wonder if that green light was any kind of electronic suspension support.

This light was on his rig at snowshoe as well. You can get a clear pic of it when he crashed

prototype sram drivetrain at world champs - what do you notice?

Jumping back to the new Derailleur by Sram: I just realized that because the derailleur is sandwiched between the two mounting plates it looks like there is no longer any rotation that you usually have with a traditional derailleur mounting bolt. Sort of like a "hall lock" built into the design of it. I'd hope that would help with chain slap. It's become pretty well reported from many people that they feel like the clutch on the AXS derailleurs isn't as tight as Sram's cable-actuated equivalents. I have heard a couple of people say this is because the electric motor needs a lighter clutch to shift optimally and have longer battery life.

I'm sure there are multiple reasons for this completely new design but maybe less chain slap/better chain retention is one of them. No clue, just spitballing here...

Caught Gwin's post on champs, and noticed a green and red light shining out from the shock tunnel. Not fully caught up with Dialled, so maybe it's been mentioned on there, but maybe there's a new electric Float X2 in the works as well as the shock Jesse and Richie are on?
Or could be something completely different. I thought the holes were to better access the clickers on the shock, but seems to line up with the lights

I can't remember where it was said, but SRAM has said that the clutch force on AXS and regular mechs are set to the same force, but the shift cable 'may' add extra tension to the system via friction. Sounds like 'may' is almost always, and that was forgotten in the calculations for setting up the AXS clutch.

I think it might just be a light reflection...

@matmattmatthew the derailleur not rotating could cause issues when removing the wheel. And the UDH si designed to rotate, not easily, but it can. So maybe that's the solution, it will rotate to remove the wheel, but it will be stiff AF.

The derailleur stays stationery once the axle is tightened, as detailed in this Wheelbased entry:

So trek have listed the 2023 Fuel EX models on the website, still the same... disappointing, Had to cancel my order as was expecting a new version.... Still giants trance x 29er with a 1-1.5 deg headset reigns in that bike store for these kinda bikes.

If you've never tried a trance x 29er with a slacker headset... do it... its seriously good.

Has there been much (if any?) discussion about this prototype Nukeproof? It's not the Dissent currently shown on NP's website, although the linkages are very similar to both the current Dissent and the Giga. Beautiful colour too.

Junior... interesting.. anyway.. if what your saying has any truth then im guessing its like the rail release where the top model is a whole different bike to the lower models lol

my preorder is still in as its the weekend.. i based it on the leaked image from awhile ago, so why release the 2023 range then release something ontop of that? (ive got a pic of what the new bike is based on treks own website)

Has been briefly mentioned. Looks like a carbon version of the current Dissent

Thats not entirely true, Trek is doing some "Carry Over" models with existing bikes. We will see something coming in September as stores were notified of a press release coming soon.

Roadies aren't supported by the big three as much as it might seem, yeah. But with MTB you can bet your behind that anyone not running a sponsored drivetrain (6 the rest of the gear) will run different cranks, brakes, suspension, etc., vs. full Sram or Shimano/FOX (or TRP/Shimano). Case in point, Specialized (Magura brakes and Ohlins suspension, taped over drivetrain), Neko (Kogel bearings, cranks, TRP brakes) and so on (don't remember any off the top of my head at the moment).

There isn't as much outside money in MTB as there is in road cycling. The salaries and costs of running a WorldTour team dwarf the costs of buying drivetrains. And the pros are even more picky about their gear than even Minnaar. Look at Froome whining over discs, look at reports that teams were running 11spd or older generation drivetrains because of issues and because of lack of availability (don't remember the details). I think there was a connection with one of the Bahrain Merida sponsors offering a dropper post, but Mohorič chose a different one for technical reasons. Teams have been running competitor gear (for example wheels) when they felt that gave them an advantage even when sponsored by another company.

Road and MTB aren't really comparable in that regard IMO. And with road stuff you can't really mix and match that much as the brake levers and shift levers are a single unit.

As for Laurie, the biggest WTF is him running Hope cranks and a proto rear derailleur that's likely from Shimano. Could it be a custom 160 mm crank or something like that?

Maxxis should do this, or at least have some Sharpie based advert.

The downtube and/or the angle of the shock have been changed so I don't think it's simply a carbon version of the current frame

Someone hasn't watched fast and the furious lately, but it's ok.

The gen 6 fuel ex is top to bottom a new bike that's already been posted, 7.5 to 9.9. It does not look like a session. Confirm with your dealer if you have the new one ordered or of your reservation is a hold over.

24" came from BMX, why not 22"? Or is this 27.5" vs. 29" all over again just shrunk down?

Hey kids! I've got a chicken coup full of sweet 26" bikes to help you bridge the gap to the big wheels...
