They also have a history of being flexible with letting riders choose whatever clothing/gear sponsors they want to so that makes sense too.

This is the shitty thing about rumours too. Jackson is one hell of a marketable guy, with huge social media presence and skills in two sides of our sport. He should be getting paid! He's also, what...16? 17? I would hope that his Dad is helping him out with major decisions! It sucks that turns into "buddy is asking for too much and his Dad is difficult". We wonder why these guys get paid shit.

Good for him! He's going to sell a lot of bikes and water bottles in his life. He should get paid for that.
Don’t worry about that, he is getting paid a lot and Trek had nothing to do with the Miranda deal. FYI

Jackson is pretty much mtb’s first child prodigy. There have been some incredible accomplishments by teenagers in the past. But as far as a kid coming up on modern bikes and having a universally developed brand that hasn’t been done before and Jackson’s father/family has a lot to do with that. If anyone is qualified to have a say on Jackson’s immediate future it is his family. And his family should absolutely be asking for jackson to be paid at a level very uncommon for someone his age. Cause that kid is going to sell bikes for a very long time.

Don’t think his performance on his last year of intense had anything to do with running fox forks.

That's aimed at Cannondale, not Intense. He had signed up to race DH for them in 2020 and they cancelled the program and pulled the rug out from under him after all the other opportunities had dried up. Wynn Masters got him a meeting with Barel and he made the switch to Enduro.
He's definitely made a few comments about the equipment changes on the last year on Intense though. I read that as "kenda tyres suck", but I think it also made it hard for him that everything else changed too. Suspension, brakes and drivetrain.
I don't think he enjoyed going from the family feel of the old intense team with Jeff and Jen running it and 2 good mates as co riders running trains down the hill to Gwin and Todd Shumlick's new team.
The old Intense team got better results too.
It's worked out pretty well for Jack though!!

Jackson is pretty much mtb’s first child prodigy. There have been some incredible accomplishments by teenagers in the past. The old Intense trio, riding their fluo kits with a different style every race, if not even every session (?) was a sight to see. They usually did it in a train as well. It was SOOOOOOO obvious they were having fun at that time.

yes! And it was their system for getting results as well. I remember that Harrison said that they were all on board with the idea that the one who had the pace at that track led the crew down. And they all had an understadning that that was the way to help the crew to unlock the challange of the track. As a teacher i must say that it is a real good system for achiving their goals. The group dynamics will help the individual, some will benefit from teaching and some will benefit form learing, but who will do what will depend on the the challange.

(sorry for the rant, and sorry for contributing to non-rumor posts. But it is so rewarding to be part of the community of learning and developing something, i. e. this thread)

I think Finn was also a child prodigy. He was known in that area when he was a grom as well and also had high potential in skiing but chose MTB.

i'd argue there is very little difference because strait WAS in the most viewed videos and media forms available during his time. he was as "visible" as jackson and was at the top of dirt jump, slope, slalom, freeride and world cup DH in his day. strait did it all and was shown in every way possible, no different than jackson today.

Fully agree. and back then you couldn't just post up video on IG or YT to get coverage. To get in those videos took being asked and I would say even more skill. There was less opportunity then and Strait proved himself first and was in. He didn't have videos of him on push bikes around whistler village and the same influences of constantly seeing what could be done in front of him. This is in no way taking away from Goldstone, but I think Strait fully deserves that credit.

yup. i remember his first massive suicide no-hander at rampage was a pull out poster from one of the magazines at the time.


it's important to remember what media was in the context of the era he came up in. and it was drastically different than riders coming up today.

If Luca to Canyon happens, does he really gain anything.. Is the Sender better than the V10? This season i think we saw him showing more speed. Then go learn a new bike?

Seems odd that Luca would be leaving seeing they just brought his brother on to run lower their team. Not saying it can’t happen but just would seem weird.

That’s Forestal ebike. I don’t see this move happening in the near future. Forestal is involved in the development of their DH bike that is ridden by The Brigade SRSuntour team.

The Brigade Bike doesn‘t seems that good as Alex Marin changed the team mid season.

FYI, Forestal and Production Privee have the same owners and are developed (manufactured?) in the same building. And we know that Production Privee has a DH bike in development.

And CG is an investor in Production Privee but was brought in to help with the development of the Forestal bikes.

There's a lot more to a team switch than just the frame. Salary, environment, staff, grass is greener feelings to name just a few.

It'll be interesting to see how he performs alongside Mark and Troy.

The Canyon switch is not a publicly done deal, correct? Is it well known in the circles though? A few of you seem quite certain it's happening.

Gwin is signing again and he certainly has a track record to do so. What about the rest of the team, didn’t really rank well? Can Canyon afford another top rider? Pretty stacked team. Is the Norco team changing things up? Didn’t really have the results to justify another year with the same riders? Chris Grice didn’t have a great year either before he got injured but it looks like SG is taking on riders for the long haul?

I didn't saw anything new For Izabela Yankova, so if you haven't heard, she is going to ride for Specialized with Bruni. She said that a month ago in an interview for the Bulgarian Cycling federation.
