Noticed this on Jesse and Miranda’s IG stories. Is Rocky shutting down the enduro team?

would be weird since jesse signed a new contract last offseason AFAIK, usually their run at least 2 years.

The sad thing is that it wouldn't be surprising if the team has a buyout clause to easily pull the plug. Let's hope not though.

I'm ready for 2020 team rumors that Nino will start doing EWS events

That kinda confirms something I heard about gigantic ditching the DH bike and program. I hope it’s not so. The frame needs an update.
I think Giant is a good candidate for dissolving their DH program in the next year or so given that they are discontinuing the Glory's distribution in the US for 2019. This market move doesn't seem indicative of a company that plans on making any type of push in the DH sector.

Rumor in Slovenia is, that Vid Persak is finally getting some-kind off-factory support... waiting to get this officialy and what bike brand he will be on in this season... Im stoked for him no matter what will he get out off this!

And hopeing, that Monika will get some factory support too for this season - she deserve it!

I didn't hear that about the Glory. It's too bad really. Pretty solid, affordable park bike for a lot of people, even if it isn't winning world cup races.

I gotta say it makes sense. Giant probably sells 20 Trances or Reigns to every one Glory

Pinkbike once said in an article a big bike firm sold 50 enduro class bikes to a single DH bike.

i think the notion that DH is mainly used for marketing purposes and to drive bike design is not controversial. I also think it is a pity whenever a bike manufacturer stops a dh program because it is not turning a profit. I seriously wonder how they factor in the value of the marketing and design leaps obtained through DH. For instance, try to imagine SC without the Syndicate. Would SC sell as many medium travel and enduro bikes today without that kind of exposure? I sincerely doubt it, though i have absolutely no data in support of that statement. And while racing enduro is really popular right now, and the videos coming out from each race is pretty stellar - the marketing value for gravity based riders is probably a fraction of what a top DH performance is worth.

Unless it is done by a drunk Belgian yelling "The spirit of Enduro" while grinning like a guy who just did quite well at a number of races Wink

I really hope they stand with him in these tough times. It would be nothing short of embarassing to dump a rider like that Sad

Jared’s still repping Specialized guys, you can stop holding your breath.

Commencal/Vallnord switching to ChrisKing hubs. They were on Spank wheels last year right?

In terms of John and Charlie power washing.... could this point to ‘a clean slate’ fresh start. Gwin to Intense... Jeff is always pushing the limits of design, welding up prototypes quicker than most folk... which racer wouldn’t want to ride for a company like that. YT got there 29” out a lot later, and the 29” dominated this season.

I spend the winter winter rewatching road and XC races while sitting on the trainer, and Nino makes the XC racing boring because he kicks everyone's ass and he does it with style. He has this comfort on a bike that none of the XC racers do and only the top DH riders have. It'd be awesome to see Nino vs Sam Hill.

I'm a yuge Nino fan, but he did Finale in 2013 and got 167th. He'd stand a good chance of winning most non-elite enduro races (like anything in the US), but the EWS is gnarly.

And FWIW, he's been challenged by MVDP, Sam Gaze, and others this year. Like we saw with Gwin a few years back, his competition has clearly leveled-up.

Anything in the US? REALLY? Are you forgetting that we have Richie Rude on the Beast coast when he isn't on the EWS tour. IMO Nino needs to chill out with the awkward joey "whips" and focus on actually having battles with people.

Interesting info on the most recent Downtime podcast... As well as helping organiser travel, accommodation etc. (as she was this season) Tracey Mosely will be moving into an athlete liaison role with Trek next year, and will be working directly with the DH and Enduro teams, including going to World Cup rounds to support the team.

That pretty much confirms to me that Trek are bringing the DH team in house next year, as a separate outfit like the Athertons (as an example, obviously they are moving on as preveously discussed) wouldn't need a Trek athlete liaison with them at races I wouldn't have thought, and certainly wouldn't need someone at Trek booking their travel and accom.
