Interesting info on the most recent Downtime podcast... As well as helping organiser travel, accommodation etc. (as she was this season) Tracey Mosely will be moving into an athlete liaison role with Trek next year, and will be working directly with the DH and Enduro teams, including going to World Cup rounds to support the team.

That pretty much confirms to me that Trek are bringing the DH team in house next year, as a separate outfit like the Athertons (as an example, obviously they are moving on as preveously discussed) wouldn't need a Trek athlete liaison with them at races I wouldn't have thought, and certainly wouldn't need someone at Trek booking their travel and accom.
Yup. In house team with Gwin. Heard they're paying him 1.5m
looks like no one has an ironclad idea where AG is going since that next person said he is a fix on Intense Wink
can't wait till silly season is over, haha :D

I just can't see intense having the money for a Gwin deal... Trek still seems most likely, IMO.. But, by all accounts, he's shopping a team deal that includes him and Neko...

If Gwin goes to intense it'll be a frame only deal, he's dialled in all his other sponsors over the past few years.

AG Intense Racing or something like that.

I've mentioned before, its possible his other sponsors have stepped in to fill the gap if intense can't afford him. He may see Intense as his best option given the time it takes them to manufacture and test race-able test bikes. I doubt Gwin cares about if a bike is a finished carbon product if its not helping him win races. If he can have multiple prototypes built to his specs in his back yard, he'll take it over waiting and getting more $$$$. Its not like YT had a bunch of cash at him anyway.

So much talking, but so little proof to back it up. Honestly, the fact that Stikman says ”Charlie and John hanging is an interesting rumour” gives the rumour more weight that the rumour itself. Or he is trolling us all and enjoys his popcorn right now... Smile

I would personally like to see Intense Factory Racing as it is, as they are probably the most fun bunch out there. I don't know how relevant this is, but I have seen them at the track walk at the Worlds and nobody else was louder than them, cracking jokes all the time and acting like kids who spent their childhoods together and kept their friendship to their twenties, still enjoying themselves to the max. I have never seen such chemistry and good energy before. But hey, in the end, who am I to decide? I'm just a dude on the internet, writing too sentimental opinions on things that are mainly business... :D

Tracey was at the Kendal Mountain Festival (which is sponsored by Trek), also there talking that night was Dan and Gee as well as Katy Winton and Ruaridh Cunningham.

When talking about her new role she mentioned she would be working with Katy and Ruaridh, but never mentioned the Athertons.

Rumor in Slovenia is, that Vid Persak is finally getting some-kind off-factory support... waiting to get this officialy and what bike brand he will be on in this season... Im stoked for him no matter what will he get out off this!

And hopeing, that Monika will get some factory support too for this season - she deserve it!
I can assure you that Monika will get factory support next season, but can't tell you by whom yet !

That is because she is working with the enduro team...

huh - say what? Did you not pay attention when he got signed to YT? If that was not throwing money at making it in the US by signing #murica-rider #1 then i do not know what is.

Also, Intense just redesigned their dh race bike with the help of Cesar Rojo and probably with some German engineering help to have good lay ups - that is if Cesar did not do that as well. I seriously doubt they'll throw those molds away any time soon. Intense' latest race bikes, especially the M16, did not fare all that well in for instance Dirt, while everybody - including Gwin - has been loving the two last iterations of the Tues from the get go. If Gwin leaves YT then i would be extremely surprised if the bike was the reason. It is not like everybody else who jumped on the 29er train did all that well, even if Commencal seemed to knock the ball out of park while also having multiple riders who were on the form of their lives (so far).

Intense' old alu race bikes were prone to flex, be out of alignment and having all kinds of hydroformed estetics - so even if they pushed the envelope at the time, they were still not perfect or even the best bikes of their time. I seem to remember Moir or one of the other guys stating that the carbon version of the m29 rode much nicer and was more compliant than the alu - or rather stating that the alu was too stiff. I know i loved my M6 when i got it,and while it was fun to ride i still could not wait to get rid of that creaky bike after riding it for a year Wink

Most likely Loris Revelli since AB Devinci Italy closed down. He often hang out whit Phil Atwill e their teams used to run the same components and test together

Hi again, for those that are asking how's Intense able to pay AG here is the explanation.

The factory of Intense in Taiwan, Fritz Jou (they make some big brands as Canyon, Scott, Cannondale to name some) bought a part of Intense Cycles and wants to put them at the top of sales of the boutique brands. Then they're investing to do the Factory Racing program still bigger than now, and with the last movements they will count with a potential not seen for years in the brand.
Gwin can win every race, Mulally is a serious contender for the podium at each race plus the progression of Moir the last couple seasons achieving some podiums and been close of the victory put them at the top of the World Cup teams together with Santacruz Syndicate, Specialized Gravity, Saracen, and Commençal Vallnord.

That could make sense... Plus, I think Neko with everything he is doing with the East Coast race scene brings a lot more exposure to his sponsors than just his race results...

As someone pointed out to me - if Transition (or any brand) goes that route and he doesn't win - that would be a bad move! Too much expectation!

yes,but if he does win (and the chances are good), its a big pay day for whoever gets him.
