yes,but if he does win (and the chances are good), its a big pay day for whoever gets him.
This highly depends on the company i believe. If it´s Intense or Transition, basically a brand with a "core" image that´s been established and had success before (Moir, Tahnee), people won´t really care if he loses because it´s not cool to hate on them and the bikes aren´t really open to any particular criticism.
If it´s a big player with an established bike and/or a new player with a questionable image or bike, it´s a huge gamble that might pay out big or may backfire horribly. If it backfires and their bike design is dated anyways, they may however as well just release a new bike with input from AG after and heavily market that, which in return will turn out perfectly fine for them as his name still can carry any new frame.
The only real precedent for this we have is specialized and they are in a kinda unique position. People just like to hate on that company. I highly doubt many other companies would get as heavy backlash as they did.
TL:DR
Peoples prior perception of the bike and company will highly influence how a AG loss will be perceived.
A hateable product will get ridiculed while a well liked product/company will get much more leniency and they may be able to salvage it.
With all this Intense conversation (pun intended), people seem to have forgotten that Dean Lucas has been very successful for the team in recent years. It isn't just Moir that has skills to pay the bills.
It seems to me a big risk for Intense to get rid of the services of two highly skilled and successful riders, the likes of what many teams would love to have one of, let alone two, to have a swing at Gwin.

Remember, as far as Gwin winning being a big win for a potential sponsor.. We are still talking DH bikes... And nobody is selling a ton...

When brands win in racing, it's not about selling the specific product that was used on race day but about selling the brand as a performance brand and the more commercial grade products that are actually sold. Think F1, Moto GP, or even something more tangible like alpine ski racing- you know how many FIS-level race skis are sold? Very, very few. Ultimately, those races aren't used to sell the products of the moment, they are used to sell the brand and the more commercial products that they influence.
I think Zach refers to the fact that TLD and Scott are tagged in the story and Intense aren't.
Don't you think we make too much of this tagged/untagged thing? Some things are obvious, like Gee hiding sponsor logos, I give you that, but sometimes it is really nothing.
Nothing changed for Specialized, Graves was out indefinitely already with a much larger issue.
Plus have they announced suspensions? I didn’t even think they have had...

Correct, the trials don't even have a date set yet.
I wouldn't read too much into it regarding Monika, it's basically a Slovenian team, regardless of the Devinci factory connection. The whole team was built upon a local team here, it's like a pro detachment of KD Rajd that... got wildly out of control in a good way :D
It is probably an old follow from the old days... When Monika was battling another Unior rider for race victories.
EDIT: the last part is actually not true, Zarja spent most of the last season injured :/
Christopher Blevins (U23, USA) confirmed on the Specialized World Cup team for 2019.
He mentioned something like"Young and talented world cup squad", Hinting that He, Courtney and Gaze will continue to claim world cup podiums.
I don’t think rapid prototyping, bike design, or wheel size have any influence on AG’s frame sponsor. AG helped YT into the US market, but they still have a foreign brand presence. AG riding for an American bike maker just makes sense. Gwin is a brand himself, all of his sponsors have to build on that brand. Especially with Neko on board, I think it’s a good move for American mountain biking in general.

Not to refer to the colored bike source, but Velo had a full article there and the tone of what Claudio posted indicated the World Cup pump track as a focus.

Goodbye Velosolutions
Picture 1. The only two manufacturers Kate Courtney follows are Specialized and Scott.
Picture 2. Adam Brayton only following Nukeproof on instagram at this time.
Picture 3. Hrastnik is following only one race team and that's Unior Tools/Devinci racing
I know its instagram... But probably decent hints at whats to come.
