No tire levers needed here for the folding bead Maxxis stuff. Wire bead weren’t installed by me, came with the bike. No warping of Schwalbe, Versus, Specialized, Delium, Michelin or Pirelli tires.

I’m definitely not that fast. 170/180 bike. Had the same issue with the wire bead super tacky 27.5 with Cush Core pro on my old DH bike.

I’ve currently got 4 DH casing tires that are warped. 29 dhf and dhr2. They all started round but didn’t stay that way for long.

I liked the grip of the Vaults but the reliability was pretty poor. Developed play after a short period so rebuilt and the same thing happened! They are now in the pedal drawer as a back up. Currently trying a set of 5 Dev enduro pedals on one bike and e13 alloy pedals on another.

I have left a comment on the Hope F22 test, that I don't want to copy-paste here, as it's kinda lame to do that. Bottom line: - was initially in love with my stealthy first generation Vault Brendogs, but they were more sensitive than expected - was gifted a pair of HEAVY Burgtec Penthouse MKIII's that are amazing when it comes to grip and bulletproofness - got myself custom engraved Burgtec Penthouse MKIV's that I wanted to love even more, but I realized Burgtec build their pedals with the body too close to the crank for my taste; heartbroken, but...

So nice to see a shift away from Maxxis. Maybe they will actually develop something more reliable?

Because those are running boards, not pedals?

Personal ranking that I’ve owned: Deity Deftrap (plastic body TMAC) Tenet Occult Crankbrothers Stamp 7 Large DMR Vault The breakdown for me is traction, reliability and price. Vault is expensive and unreliable but great traction. Stamp 7 is expensive, ok reliability and ok traction. Occult and Deftrap are tied for reliability (odd broken pin), really good traction and only separated by price. I’m still using my Occults and I have a freshly rebuilt (again!) set of Vaults I use at the bike park. I’ve recently sold the Stamps and the Deftraps.

DT rims are crazy expensive here, but they're so much stronger than the competition it's like an addict complaining with their dealer about price. Like, sure, go buy a different rim. I'll be here when your new Stan's/WTB/whatever rim is a stop sign.

So the World Cup is now the World Series, except for the Enduro World Series which is now the Enduro World Cup, but the World Series is just made up of World Cups. Got it. Whenever you read about a stupid branding decision, just remember: somebody got paid real, actual money for this nonsense. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. FFS.

People looking at the e13 wheel sets are the ones that have seriously damaged their house brand wheels that came with their bike. Personally I went with the alloy set after my Roval alloy set that came on my Enduro started giving up the ghost, and in the past year the LG1 Plus set have only needed one quick check of the spokes (1 loose front, 2 rear) and they are still running true and free of dents. They aren’t the cheapest out there, nor the lightest, but they have a nice buzz, stay clean inside and don’t fall apart...

"then heat treated and lastly, put through multiple highly specialized nitriding and carburizing surface treatments to achieve micro hardness of an impressive 1300HV." The automotive application at work where we nitride the tip of a stainless steel shaft to achieve a sufficient hardness has a VERY thin (think microns, I think it's under one hundredth of a mm) nitrided layer. And of course getting hit that layer chips of very easily if the underlying (softer) material is damaged in any way. But yeah, on point with the brittleness comment. Running this ring on a standard bike with no taco bash...

A winning setup doesn't last forever...I made the choice that I thought would bring me success for many years to come. Canyon has a bigger commitment to racing and winning and I've always felt I wanted a little extra help to go even faster. I recorded a podcast with Downtime last week so that should be out soon and explain some more.

Now, don't you guys laugh at my pitiful goals, but I hit my 800 mile goal for 2022. The problem is that I spent all my ride days focused on getting a few more miles, and I ended up riding flatter, less-challenging rides to keep the odometer ticking over. So this year, I'm going for an elevation gain instead. Last year I landed just over 30,000 feet, so this year I'm looking to get 50,000'. That's going to be a tough thing for me to do, honestly.
