Jonathon Simonetti Liked a product review Vital Tested - Norco's All-New High Pivot Range C1
8/18/2021 6:14pm
With the last update to Norco’s long-travel 29er being back in 2018, the all-new 2022 Range is a bike that should excite those with a focus on flat-out speed. After Vital's First Look with the new Range, it became clear this is a massive departure from previous year's models with a full redesign from the ground up. The new Range is the first official bike launched under Norco’s new brand image. The long-travel 29er now features a high, virtual pivot suspension layout with updated geo aimed at inspiring confidence when smashing into the unknown. With the level of anticipation around...

8/15/2021 6:59pm Hey Guys, another update. Austin was one of the first people I called after getting hurt. We're buddies and talk/ride together fairly regularly. I let him know what was up and wanted to confirm that he was staying in Europe for the next month like I thought he was. He's racing Maribor this weekend and isn't planning on coming back home until after the WC in Switzerland next month either way. That was good news as he's easily ready to go if I pull out. I also contacted USAC to make sure they get him everything he needs to compete...

BHowell Liked a product review Vital Test Sessions - Pivot Firebird
8/11/2021 8:56am
After the launch of its Switchblade model, Pivot has been working through the rest of the line. Updates include a new vertical shock layout and revised geometry. The Firebird is the latest to get the revision and Pivot did not hold any punches here. Not one of the best kept secrets out there, when the Firebird did finally land, we were pleased as punch to have one in our studio. Strengths Efficient pedaling platform Carries speed well Reduces trail noise and chatter Weaknesses Struggles in steep, chunky terrain Not that nimble Highlights Full carbon frame 29-inch wheels 165mm (6.5-inches) of...

loganbrown Liked a product review Vital Durability Review - YT Jeffsy Core 3
7/27/2021 5:37pm
When YT launched the revised Jeffsy platform in 2019, we were on hand for our First Ride report from the press camp. Since then we've tested the $2,399 Jeffsy 29 Base model and again, found it to be a stand-out performer, especially for the price. When YT released their latest Jeffsy Core offerings earlier this year, that Core label had us grinning. We have a test pilot who is the very type of rider that YT’s marketing efforts embrace. Young, eager to hit massive jumps without much regard for personal safety or equipment, Logan Brown is not the typical product...

7/26/2021 8:32pm Nice work Vital. I'm glad at least one MTB website is interested in covering the Canadian DH scene.

7/26/2021 8:29pm Right? 3 races in one week with 350+ people within 4 hours of each other and I've seen nothing on PB about the Canadian races, but every other country's champs and race reports is kind of bullshit. That being said, I was there and it was awesome to watch. Miranda vs Casey vs Vera and how stoked they all were at the bottom, some drama with Mark Wallace needing a re-run while Finn sat at the bottom for what seemed like forever, Rheeder being an absolute pinner with the best style, and watching Groms and Jr's nearing landing on each...

7/21/2021 9:09pm Hightower is a rad bike and something I might choose if I didn’t also have my hardtail. So many great choices out there now…

7/21/2021 9:02pm Thanks for all the comments, I am sure that all the wheel sizes have their ad / disadvantages. Not really sure I am ready to ride this MX train - and to be honest the MX bikes look horrible in my opinion. @yzedf - glad to hear you had your experiences already, I will not be going full enduro - more of the likes of the Hightower...I like pedalling and the rough stuff. I don't want things to be easier, I want to challenge myself with new stuff and maybe the change to 29 will do just that...

That road gap is super huge now...and he overjumped it. Can't believe Lew Buchanan hit it on an enduro frame w/ triple crown.

7/21/2021 8:05am Full 29 is fast in the right conditions, but also a handful in others. If your trails are difficult to carry speed on, either by trail design or rider, I would not go full 29. There are a couple spots at my local spot that never gave me trouble before running 27.5 with a shorter rear and and wheelbase that...
lev Liked a reply to forum topic Anyone ever worn a hole in a crank arm?
7/20/2021 7:59am I had some Next carbon cranks develop stress cracks along the length of the arm. Never crashed, just my 100kg heft and pedalling. RF (siverfish in the UK) didn't want to know to begin with, but I kept pressing them. They ended up swapping for some SIXC under warranty in the end. They were nice until I took the end of them off with a pedal strike! I'm now on Turbines, probably like I should have always been! Moral - keep pushing these manufacturers. They sell expensive stuff that should last. You should minmum get a replacement at cost..

7/17/2021 7:45pm Agree, keep the politics and American outrage at one another over on Pinkbike comments. I like Vital because it doesn't have all that bullshit. Hopefully it stays that way.

For all but the nastiest raw double black tech trails I’m perfectly comfortable with my 170/170 bike that has a flip chip. The dh bike just needs to be cleaned up a bit so I can sell it.
