yzedf Added a reply to The Best Component Upgrade for a Mountain Bike?

Touch points. For me it’s grips. Lock on with only inner ring, thicker for more feel in cold weather and with enough channeling I can go without gloves for weather over 45F even on those muggy summer mid day rides. Saddle, as long as it’s not too wide it doesn’t really matter. Pedals, spd if clipless, otherwise flats that I...

yzedf Added a reply to Best front AND rear tire

3/29/2020 9:58pm
Butcher GRID 2.3 front and rear on the trail bike. Decent tire that doesn’t have the outright grip of a dhr2, but they are usually able to be found pretty cheap. Next set in the basement waiting is Onza Aquila whatever the enduro casing is called... $16 each on closeout last year at crc. The other bike that doesn’t get...

Amazing level of effort and commitment required to complete this from start to finish. Can't imagine how many late nights were involved sorting out fine details. Huge props to Vlad for having the vision and drive to pull this off!

mntnmrtn Liked a product review Very good semi high-end fork

3/4/2020 5:25pm
After spending a season on the lower-end fork that came stock on my bike (Rock Shox Recon RL), I was lusting for a better fork with a bit more travel. Changing the air spring in the Recon wouldn’t cut it, and if I bought another fork I could almost build another bike with my spare parts … nice. I didn’t have the money for a “premium” fork like a Fox 36 or a Rock Shox Lyric, so I was left with three options : the Suntour Aion 35, DVO Beryl and the Marzocchi Z1. I ended up getting the 29”...

Paracheilinus Liked a product review Crankbrothers Stamp 7 Flat Pedals

2/29/2020 3:13pm
I've chosen the Crankbrothers Stamp 7 flat pedals to replace my locally-made MOB flat pedals. I've had that pedal for three years and worn out the pins. I like the wide surface area of the Stamp. The pins can be adjusted using a #2 Allen key for shallow “barely there” bite to tacky, shin gouging experience. Mine leans on the shin gouging after a few tries. I removed the pins that sides on the axle on both sides of both pedals. I liked the support of the wide surface especially on rock gardens and flowy trails. I don’t have to...

_Lan Liked a forum topic Why are there still no 200mm+ Enduro bikes?

2/25/2020 8:37pm
So I designed this thing, a 205-220mm travel (currently at 215mm) Downhill bike. I've been riding it almost everyday since I was able to tune the suspension to my liking (ditched the harsh EXT for an X2). It performs very nicely as a downhill bike going down yet still climbs like any other efficient enduro bike can. Sure, enduro bikes have become more capable and are creeping up to downhill travel numbers but why don't bike companies just go all the way. They keep teasing us with slight increments every year. There must be a market for such bikes...

In 2016, when BikeYoke released their first dropper post – the Revive, they shot straight to the top of the heap thanks to a particularly innovative feature that let riders easily bleed the internals using an external valve, a process that took no more than 10 seconds to complete with a simple allen key. Additionally, the action of the Revive is incredibly smooth, and the many different sizes and lengths available and the super short overall stack height mean that there is a Revive to fit any bike and rider. In fact, the Revive is so good that it has...
