But Vital isn't social media. It's the comfy armchairs in the corner of the living room part of the internet where you can have honest to god debates!

This past weekend my son and I raced a local enduro with some big miles and stages with a decent amount of pedalling. In the pro category I raced 22 miles with about 4500ft of vertical. So between the 2 days (training and racing) it was a big weekend. I don't really race that much anymore but this one race I like because of how big it is. In my opinion its what enduro should be. Big days, self reliant with a good mix of tech, fast, pedalling and a huge dose of ENDURance. However this year I noticed a...

"This practical guide applies to equipment used in road, track and cyclo-cross events." It's my understanding that none of this stuff applies to MTB, thus why you don't see "UCI Approved" stickers on production mountain bikes like you do on road and cyclocross bikes.

Didn't we already go through this before with Rampage? Not sure who is asking for wood features on World Cup tracks but I'd be just as happy with a huge dirt double. Or maybe some whoops...

This just in: The organisers of the 2021 Fort William round of the Mercedes Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, originally planned for 22-23 May, are sorry to confirm there will be no re-scheduled event this year. Alternative dates had been investigated with the UCI and local partners but the challenges were too significant. The UCI has today announced that the Fort William round will now take place on September 15 at Snowshoe (USA), just prior to the World Cup Finals. The entire Fort William team offers their best wishes for all of the remaining World Cups and looks forward...

Just watched Accomplice on Netflix last night and really respected how much time and effort Zink put into making sure that Paul Basagoitia wasn't left feeling alone. Zink taking the time and effort to put that message out on his social media and make a change raised my respect for him even more. Pretty cool... Edit: whoops, name.

I am not going to speak on behalf of Primoz, but the ancient druids of the mtb practiced the the arts of maintenance, which has been thougt to be forgotten some time in the 2010's. There may be some scrolls hidden on deep into the search results in the Great Maze of the Google.

Maxxis has an incomplete page up for the Shorty Gen 2: https://www.maxxis.com/catalog/tire-593-140-shorty-gen-2# "After gathering years of data and feedback from our World Cup Downhill and Enduro World Series athletes, the Shorty is completely new for 2021. The knob layout has been altered to improve wet traction, cornering performance, and mud shedding abilities. The narrower 2.40" casing improves frame and fork clearance for when things get really sloppy and reduces weight."

The DH34 is lower profile and thicker sidewalls than the DH22 that may be why you didn't have as much trouble, it may also be the rim combo. One thing I will say is although it was the hardest tire Ive ever installed, inflating it was super easy. Probably cuz it fit so dang tight on the rim!

Just to chime in on the «hard to mount» thing. I found that the dh 22 with cushcore pro’s on a 30 mm rim wasnt a problem. Pumped it up easily with a regular pump aswell. It was pretty similar to the assegais on dh casing and cushcores imo. Yes it depends on the specific rim, but I’ve read that...

Primoz if it is not too much extra effort I would be really interested to see a couple of images showing the two load cases coloured by material strain rather than displacement. Is this possible please? If it helps I can also truthfully say that this is one of the best bits of engineering analysis (the best?) I have ever seen on an MTB Internet forum!

Against better judgment (and drumming up a lot of old stuff) here is my full reply to the topic at hand... The answer is "it depends". Your bar height is going to be determined by a ton of factors (as others have already stated). *Where you ride *The type of bike you are riding *The reach & rear end length of the bike you are riding *Your own proportions *Your own style Ultimately, the best way to determine this would be to put sensors on our bikes to see how we are weighting the bike when riding. Couple this with...
