Just get a grip and stop talking about Minnaar or commencal lineup. This is a tech rumors thread that manages to keep on delivering photos, good opinions and food for thought from posters, let's keep it this way.

yahmon Liked a reply to forum topic PB using RAW?

I'm not angry about the use of "raw" -- that's a term that has been used by many in mountain biking and other activities that showcase themselves through video. What I am disappointed in is the quality of Pinkbike's footage that they use for their raw videos. Their angles are significantly worse, the panning and following is really lacking, and the colors and contrast are dead in comparison to the Vital RAW videos. I would be so excited to have more footage and more coverage of the races if it was on par with the quality that Vital produces, but...

As someone who has been fortunate enough to ride and own multiple DH bike over the last 15 years, I hate to see them fade into the background. Although it makes sense, as most people may only own one or two bikes and to have one that is relatively dedicated to summer chair lift season may be tough to justify. I've owned some pretty sweet current model 170mm enduro bikes but nothing beats a triple clamp fork with 200mm of travel at both ends when the "true" DH terrain is in front of you. Three times I've sold the DH...

I agree 100% While I don't live near a lift park, and none of my local trails require a DH bike, but my favorite trails to ride are more fun on my DH bike than my enduro bike. I feel like the industry has done such a good job of selling enduro bikes to the DH crowd, they have shot themselves in the foot for DH bike sales.

It’s simple and obvious. Should have been a DQ props to Bernard for speaking publicly what most of the other TM’s agreed on privately too (within official protest period too) On the flip side of this great to see Angel riding so well and making such a good comeback.

to say "no advantage gained" is so subjective and shouldn't be part of the discussion. angel was 10th, dak norton 11th. their time diff was .11 seconds. if angel stayed on a line that kept him in the course (possibly meaning more direction change or hitting bigger bumps), he could have lost that .11 and may have given up a spot and points. his line almost looks straighter than it normally would have been.

Norco is in the ballpark of progressive geometry. The Shore's size L is almost similar with Pole Evolink 158 and Nicolai/Geometron G1 in size M. Long bikes are here to stay.

Reality check: Wheel size is 324th on the list of mountain bike variables that affect performance, and it's definitely behind suspension setup, BB height, head angle, and tire size on that list.

and here we are. commenting on a bicycle forum. about race. thus having a conversation about it. whether you agree or not, having words like this in "seemingly useless or non-applicable place [ie - mt bikes]" gets more people talking about race. and not talking about race is the issue... i live in a major US city. this isn't going away anytime soon. have more conversations that make you feel uneasy! i love the paint jobs. keep on, commencal!

Hey, remember 9 posts ago in this thread when we were bummed that Bike Magazine was going out of business? Or the part where we were grateful for decades of great MTB content from so many amazing contributors, editors, photographers, and writers? That was cool.

Hi Vital Forum peoples, This is not Vital's fault what so ever, we have ask them to take it down. The info out was not images of bikes but mock up CAD images which honestly as just shit with loads of incorrect details. These files are only ever intended to go to our dealers (and should never make it beyond this) to help them. Hand on heart we will never ask to remove genuine "spy shots" out in the field/ testing, where things are open to public to shoot. We promise your patience will be worth while when the time...

I think that Enduro bikes will gradually become like the Grim Donut and Paul Aston’s Nicolas G1 while trail bikes will stretch out and become more like short travel enduro bikes (and we’ll all buy them because Enduro bikes will have become too specialist like DH bikes. I think it will take a few brave individuals like Chris Porter, Paul Aston, Isaac Levisson(sic) and the Grim Donut guys to prove that the more extreme geometry works for racing and going fast.

Dive into the geometry numbers and find out what you like. Once you know what you like, you can search for bikes with these numbers in mind and have a pretty good idea of how the new bike going to fit and feel sight unseen. Buying bikes sight unseen is definitely not the ideal option, but this should help you out. Bike manufactures offer a ton of geometry measurements which can be overwhelming. For me, my eyes go directly toward head angle, effective top tube, reach, and BB height. Wheelbase, chain stay length, and seat angle are where my eyes...

Yes, I think we both agree that a bike that is designed to be pedaled should climb well. My point was that gravity oriented bikes like dh and "enduro" bikes should be designed with descending in mind. However theres no reason why enduro bikes shouldn't be good climbers, but in my opinion their climbing ability should not be prioritized. When...

DIN is the mechanism that keeps your heel in place. Dynafit is a binding where you can have your heel loose from the ski itself for walking uphill and then you snap your heel into them at the top. Of course randonee skiers aren’t walking up with their heel stuck to the ski. The randonee ski itself (not the binding)...
Thanks Blade! Bike checks seem more an more diluted nowadays so I really wanted to do something extremely in-depth. Thanks, Paul

Best. Bike check. Ever. Way too much bike for 99% of our local trails but that was a very thoughtful and enjoyable read.
