My 1000000Cst differential fluid would like a go in your rear shock please… Sorry… being a jerk, however there is some science here https://www.shimrestackor.com/Code/Sample_Applications/Damping_Profile/… Not true to say “completely independent” - fairer to say becomes less important as the flow increases and the shims lift. So you can use high viscosity oil if you want more low speed damping for same high speed.

I think the 35mm Deville fork on my wife’s old Capra was possibly the best fork I’ve ever used, although it was fiddly to set up and needed to be redone every ride or 2. But BOS had some of the worst customer support I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Hopefully they get that part right this time as we eventually sold the fork when it became clear that no one in the UK (or BOS themselves in France) could actually supply spares for it.

15mm fork axles. Bring back 20mm for single crown (Intend leading the way there as ever) Everything else I can live with (for the most part) as there are always several options to chose from.

Wow, that's absolute nonsense. Throw it on the large pile of snake oil and bad science that we have in this sport. The only thing that matters is where the grips are relative to the steering axis (grip offset). Where the bars and the stem clamp together is irrelevant. So many people swear by a particular stem length even when comparing vastly different bars, and the bars usually make a larger difference than the stem. Especially riser bars which change the grip offset a truckload depending on what angle they're rolled to. Even bars with the same sweep angle can...

Nice review - good to get a direct back to back with the same brand which the only way to get close to a fair rim material comparison. Helps keep me happy with my existing aluminium rims 🙂

About the fact to match stem length with fork offset I say this is total BS as you don't talk about stem angle, back sweep, bar width and fork angle and so on. 45 could be perfect with a setup and awful with an other, no way to say "match stem with offset is perfect".

1/17/2022 1:27pm On a mountain bike it would be cool to capture the energy that is dissipated by the dampers in the suspension - charge a small battery rather than heat up some oil. Not sure how much energy you would get but with a little time and some damper curves would be easy to do. Of the top of my head...

Having ridden 3 of these, one with Fox Float X2, this bike and one with DPX2, the rear feels incredibly plush (much better than my Enduro bike). Absolutely no compliance issues. The bike is a dream to ride and you feel comfortable on it after just one corner. Quick too!
